Centre with Staggs, Oates and Farnworth on the wings.
Yeah fair to assume it will be those 4. Not convinced they will move Herbie to the wing though.

I am really confused as to where Brenko Lee fits in..

Solid backup and then possibly look at moving Staggs to 6 , he can slot into the centers whilst we wait for mariner or cobbo to come through.

Herbie on the wing does make the least disruption to our backline if throughout the season we plan to switch Staggs to 6.

Staggs at centre

1. ?
2. Oates
3. Gagai
4. Staggs
5. Farnworth
6. ?
7. Reynolds

6. Staggs
7. Reynolds

Personally though... I would keep Herbie and Oates together on the left, I'd also keep Staggs at centre.. Probably make a strong combo of him and Gagai on the right and cement it in for the year. Staggs needs to put a season of consistent good form together before worrying about playing in the halves. Personally, I would not have signed Brenko Lee..

My preference

1. ?
2. Oates
3. Farnworth
4. Staggs
5. Gagai
6. Kelly
7. Reynolds

He'd be bottom dollar and he has experience which Niu and Farnworth do not.
My reservation is that even highly touted recent fullbacks and outside backs from the super league have been generally disappointing in the nrl. I.e. sam "the english billy slater" tomkins, greg eden, ryan hall, zac hardaker etc.

If hull or other super league teams are not interested in him,it may indicate something.

TPJ deal with bulldogs is done apparently. I actually think Bulldogs could finish higher than us next year.

Not sure if gagai would come here to play wing though. I’d have him at left centre where he’s been playing well for south’s. Hopefully it helps Oates with defence too.

That's fair. I'm hardly pushing for Quinlan to be our fullback haha. If he were bottom dollar then we could do worse than someone like him in the squad to balance out the inexperience we have in the fullback position. Quinlan was not too different to Dylan Edwards. They aren't superstars but are good supporters and solid workers.

I think Farnsworth is still having trouble defending in the centres. I like him on the wing.

Strictly rumour grade:

Jesse Arthars close to a two year extension.
John Asiata told to look elsewhere.
TPJ to Panthers still on.

Ehhhh why bother re-signing Arthars? How does this help us? Guess Copley is re-signing next..

I'm happy with Asiata not being re-signed.

Okay yeah, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Arthars must be on bottom dollar. They just don’t play him at all. He should have been put on for Herbie after last weeks performance

Wow. Since it seems we aren't going after Finucane... Could we possibly make a play for Christian Welch?!

He's in his prime. Only contacted for next year not beyond... He'd be very handy pickup if we paid slight overs to draw him out of Melbourne

He's the type of player we need. Anyone from the storm system who will bring the right work ethic, training standards and DEFENSIVE KNOWLEDGE.

our biggest issue is defence. We finally get that right in the middle, confidence will build in attack.

We'd be straight back into being a finals side with:

1. Farnworth / Isaako / Arthars
2. Oates / Cobbo
3. Niu / Gagai / Lee
4. Staggs
5. Farnworth / Isaako
6. Gamble / Staggs
7. Reynolds
8. Haas
9. Turpin
10. Welch
11. Piakura / Robati / Rikki
12. Kapewell
13. Carrigan / Hetherington / Gamble

14. Paix / Walters
15. Kennedy
16. Bullemore
17. Flegler
