Today is making one thing perfectly clear ... people seem to think we can have superstars in every position (including our depth).

we're not the Roosters you know ... we have a salary cap to abide by

Clearly. But we don't have really any superstars... We have a decent strike centre and a good halfback coming. That's it...

No specialist 1
No specialist 9
No specialist 6
Still no 7 til next year

Storm literally have two of each of those in their 21 line-up with the backline and forwards to build a platform to let them shine.

Going after Welch could screw up so many other plans as that would likely see Melbourne re-sign Finucane.and leave the Dragons in the lurch

Staggs and Haas are both elite in their positions.

Capewell is an origin forward
Reynolds is a top 4 halfback

I do agree with don’t have an elite 9 or 1 though and that we do need at least one of these. The amount of difference Hynes at fullback could’ve made to our squad is huge.

Wayne:

“I don’t know where ‘Milf’ will end up, but Jason is pretty close to Anthony. Jason likes him and has worked with him so there might be an opportunity here. Jason would be happy to have him at the club, but I don’t know what Milf is chasing and how much money the club has left in the cap. Jason knows Milf can play and they worked well together at the Broncos, but it depends on Souths — they might have other plans around their halfback because I won’t be there next year.”

Milford:

“I’ve got two young girls so my family comes first now — I will go wherever I need to for them and what best suits my football. I honestly believe I have more in me. I’m only 27. I know the hunger and the passion is there. I still love playing the game so hopefully a fresh start can be good for me.”

Souths have offered Gagai a one year deal ~ $450k. Brisbane are baulking at the price:

“Dane is a player that remains on our radar, but at this point in time we are not in a position to table anything for him, It will be a wait-and-see scenario. It depends what we can afford.”

Yes, but not superstars really..

Reyno and Capewell aren't here yet.

When you compare us to Melbourne..... Come on.

How poor do other clubs have to be to not sign players like Hynes and Hughes who were languishing in Q Cup. There are genuine players out there if you give them the right system to build into elite players.

But the Storm have..
Papps AND Hynes.
Smith AND Grant

Like... That's fucked.

I just can’t see walker and Milford working together.
They're going with the sweep play tactics whereby they no longer need an elite kicking option. They tried this at Brisbane with Nikorima and Milford.

Yeah, the problem is that noone will believe you that they are first grade standard until you play them and they show everyone. Bellamy is the BOSS at knowing who is NRL standard, before the player has "proven" it in NRL.

That’s on coaching and development.

Why? He came here to play under Wayne
Why Benji? Because I think he's pretty keen on taking any offer that comes his way. Souths may not keep him for next year. He is bottom dollar and already has shown he can combine nicely with Reynolds.

Yeah it's a fine idea except I don't think he'll leave Sydney AGAIN. He's family first.
