The Broncos have released Ethan Bullemor to Manly on an as yet undisclosed multi-year deal, and are expressing interest in Canberra's Ryan James. Nothing firm on the latter.

Ben Ikin:

“Ethan has been in the Broncos’ system for a long time. He is a great young footballer with a bright future, but decided there was an opportunity for him elsewhere. After a lengthy conversation, the club decided to let him look elsewhere.”

Shouldn’t there be some sort of ramification for this though, Ikin certainly implied it was player and agent driven and an offer had come before being granted permission.

Yes of course I’m aware contracts are worth nothing except the two each player signs at the Storm plus a non-disclosure agreement.

Reckon anyone at the club would have a sniff for Tariq Sims?

I'd assume he is on and would want far more than we can offer, but he is experienced.

We also probably don't need another back rower but just raising it as a topic of discussion.

Sucks about the Bull leaving
Was actually thinking about this earlier today after reading a story about sims.
SIms was told a month ago he could look elsewhere, I may be wrong but bullemor was told about a month ago he can talk to other clubs. Brisbane need abit more experience in the pack, sims has that though he's a edge forward not a middle forward but I think has played 13. He Played 20s here and both korbin and Ashton have come here.
He wouldn't come cheap so this theory is just rubbish but crazier things have happened.

Haven't the Knights signed Sims?.

He'd be ok, but on for a year or two at most otherwise he's just in the way.

Its not a reflection on the club. This sort of deal doesnt happen unless both parties ( and i'm talking Bullemor and his manager, and Manly ) have been talking in the shadows.
Didnt the Broncos give him permission to look elsewhere.?

I think I would rather Martin Tapau instead of Ryan James. Getting a bit long in the tooth but still offers good go forward and would be a good no nonsense partner for Payne.
A 2 year deal would be ideal to mentor some of our younger forwards until they mature and won't put up with any shit, which is what we need.

Manly could have been talking to him about 2023 and he said I am pretty unhappy for next year too. Manly sound out the Broncos about a release a year early.

Yeah I know, I was being a bit tongue in cheek to be honest. Given how many players the Broncs have pushed out the door mid-contract, it would be a bit hypocritical to pursue it.

Well, in public they did because there would be a shitshow if it came out that Manly negotiated a move with him before they spoke to Brisbane. What you will find happened is Manly talked to Bullemor and his manager off the record, then Ethan would have had to approach the club for a release for 2022 for it to all be above board.
