Ashes Discussion

I think everyone is to proud to accept they are wrong and this argument needs to end cause the same points and arguments are being raised without any acknowledgment from the other person that it is a valid argument. Just going to keep going around in circles and turn in to toxic environment like it did with Lyon and Seam/swing discussions.

And I provided reasons in one of my first few posts on the subject. 1910 hasn't held anything to account, all he has asked about is results and bowling teams out, or not making enough runs. I had a similar argument in this thread when talking about Smith before the series. While results are important for sides, they don't determine a good captain, Graeme Smith and Stephen Fleming are prime examples of great captains with average results, and on the other side of the coin you could see Ponting as an average tactical captain with elite results.

You haven't provided a single game situation.

Also Smith most wins in Test history as captain- 53 wins

Give it a rest mate. You also haven’t managed to provide anything to suggest he has been bad tactically either.

You want me to quote you a specific field placing, or a specific bowling change?

Smith also captained the most tests of anyone. His win rate is only 48%, which is lower than many captains like Ponting and Kohl iwho he is much better than, but didn't have the cattle. Then you have Fleming, arguably one of the finest captains ever, and he has a win rate of 35%. This is exactly why I don't believe you can judge a captain purely off his results.

On a NEW note Australia in a bit of trouble here.
Not really. Basically 5-175, anything over a 250 lead should be more than enough. Ideally want to bat until dinner tonight, if they can manage that, it's game over.

Sorry what was that?
OMG a wicket changed the game, which in turn can change an opinion, can't believe it.

Australia not in a good spot now Smith is gone, but still comfortable favourites to win the match.

We’re still a seriously shit batting lineup when we want to be..

How does it change that we were in danger 2 balls ago if a wicket could fall and England become favourites to take the game with two un-established batsman, not a good enough score to chase, a confident England and bowlers to come.

Wow how many hook shots and glances off the hip to we want to give our wickets away to.

Put the shot away

It changed when our best batsman got out. Thought that was kinda obvious.

I said we could be in trouble here two balls before that and it didn’t come to your mind that an out of form Steve smith could get out and we are all of a sudden fucked?

No, you said "in a bit of trouble" not "could be in trouble"

Very different statements.

Imo Steve Smith needs to have a Steve Waugh moment in regards to tailoring his approach to short pitched bowling from here on..

Yeah and we obviously were in a BIT of trouble if we were a wicket away from being in real strife of losing genius. No we are in a lot of trouble one wicket and about 2 balls later from your practically ‘safe as houses’ speech and how we are 75 runs away from a win so if I were you I would stop expecting we will roll England for 188 again and all will be good.

Australia are currently $1.24 with Sportsbet. Plenty of value there for you, seeing we are in so much trouble.
