What role should Billy Walters play?

Mam in the 6, Paix in the 9 and Walters in the 14.

Not liking where Gamble is at right now form wise, and Kelly completely shat the bed last night so I honestly can't see them making the cut. If Walters plays himself into the 6 or 9 then fair enough, but right now I just can't look past having Mam and Paix in the side. They have played out of their skin the last 2 games.

Tend to agree but id likely start the season with walters 6 mam 14 just to ease him in.

Isn't it interesting how it's gone from how dare Walters be our first choice 6 to currently holding 56% of vote to be our first choice number 6 two trials later
Yeah, guilty as charged. Well done to him.

From what I have seen in his two trials is he throws better quality passes than any of the guys he has played with .
I would like that quality in most every play . Starting 9 is my vote . Paix had a nice scoot last night . But his passing was not as good as Tanah Boyd the guy the Broncs let go ...

Better passing from dummy half gives the receivers more time and leads to less dropped ball - more defence - more fatigue . Things that have hurt the Broncs bad the past cpl of seasons .

Walters/Paix 9/14 Probably start heavier on Walters earlier, and phase in Paix as the season progresses.

Gamble had a shocker, but he's still the starting 6 for mine. Barring another disaster run.

Do people actually use trial games as a tool as to someone being in red hot form?

Paix and Walters could be a good combo....either can play 14 or 9. My preference is to have him at hooker for now. Turps IMO hasnt done enough.

A threat from DH keeps the markers honest though too which gives the one out more impact.

At the moment we've been used to crap passes, poor momentum into the hit up and no threat for the markers to care about from DH so they quickly jam in on the likely one out hit up carrier.

Offensively anyone is an improvement. We need to deprioritise the defensive hooker role when you consider our last decade has been macca and turps. There's a reason why the Cook's of the world are the go to by top teams.

Can we not hold hope Tommy.....?

Can we not dream of goodness existing within a Broncos jersey again....

Can we not be happy Tommy....just for a moment?

Why won't you let us be happy Tommy.....?

I can’t speak for everyone, but I know I’d much prefer our players look like they’re in good form through the trials rather than looking like they’ve never met the bloke standing next to them, as has been the case the last few years (both during the trials and the season).

Two trials for a win and draw seems like a massive improvement on recent preseasons.

Capewell and Lee appear to be two of our most consistent individual defenders. I wonder if having them on different sides of the field might improve overall defensive balance, plug some gaps and result in better reads across each edge.
Great in theory but you don’t swap Kotoni our most dangerous player on to the left and you don’t put Capewell on the right and leave zero strike power on the left.

Yep, fair call. Those guys are most effective in their natural positions. We need to find some maturity in defence on the right though. Hopefully Capewell takes Riki under his wing.

100% this.

Grant/B.Smith

If there's one obvious thing they all share in common, they're excellent ball runners and an offensive threat.

In Melbourne's case I would say their entire attack revolves around their speed from dummy half.
