If there is one thing I have observed in my 5ish years on this forum; if we could bottle the never give up attitude of @Huge and give it to our players, we’d be real fucking hard to beat.

I usually enjoy his posts, but he has come across as an aggro douche in this thread ( no offense mate).

Would never have gone there if outright lying wasn't presented first plus I was being attacked by the regular offenders. I'm not turning the other cheek and letting people slag me off just because I'm old. Don't attack me( the others) and I am happy to disagree with civility.

Kevvie has done a really good job this summer. He's stripped it all back for them and found a nice balance.

The focus has been on just simple mistake football- very 4 or 40. It's what the Broncos do best.

He has them believing that if you keep your mistake to the minimum and you kick well and defend then you have enough space on the canvas to score 24 points and that will come with combinations.

Last night it all showed. I knew that was the goal but didn't think they'd do it so well straight away.

It makes me even more sure that four forwards on the bench would work now that I've seen them in action and not just training and talking about it- last night instead of giving Roberts eight minutes and two bad passes from dummy half you could have another forward to play 20 and keep the momentum going. They lagged badly once the first rotations had to be done- Souths attack was off or that could have cost them.

Fair points for sure. I reckon Coates will become a genuine weapon at the Storm but I also think Selwyn has a better work ethic. Both exciting young players but the thing I like, the club is producing some promising backs again. Now we just to start getting some spine talent coming through and Mam and Mozer are hopeful signs that’s happening.

Issue with Coates is he could quite well be the dumbest player in the NRL. There’s just nothing going on in that head. “I love the broncos and want to be a bronco for life” less than a week later announced he’s with storm, bloke is a **** wit. Seen him out on the piss as well and much the same.

I think it's true to say that most teams suffer the same way when replacing the starting props. I don't disagree either about Roberts but I do see what KW had in mind. Truthfully I thought we really didn't lose all that much go forward as RK managed over 10m a run which maintained the momentum but James didn't, a lousy 4m average ,24m from 6 hitups.

Totally agree with the rest of your post. Real credit to KW for changing the collective mindset.

I know its been a tough couple of weeks for SEQ.

So to see the Broncs come through like they did...i reckon that will be a huge lift for the place.

I fully agree with this sentiment. There will be a lot of us out there that got an extra special lift from seeing that gutsy effort last night. I know I did. Was a wee ray of sunshine in an otherwise shitty fortnight.

I notice you find fault with me but why don't you acknowledge that you and others have faults and won't admit to mistakes? Like claiming RK fucked up twice? Why no admission that the goal line 6 again was no one's fault and just rugby league being the game it is?

Finally, the overwhelming bulk of my posts are 100% civil, I just don't accept outright lies and undeserved condemnation of guys playing their hearts out, getting back up and making one more effort for my beloved club. These guys deserve our respect but no, that doesn't mean immunity from criticism.

I still haven’t watched a replay so I honestly have no idea whether Kennedy should have been penalised or not, so you may well be right. I went on the call at the time and as you should be well aware, I’ve often been critical of NRL officialdom so would not be surprised if this call was incorrect.

At the time it certainly seemed to be like the six again was a fair call because the player was staying on the Rabbit too long.

However, you originally asked what the second instance was and I answered. You then proceeded to call me all sorts of names and became aggressive, so how is that conducive to a discussion?

Had you actually taken the time to discuss and not assume I was attacking Kennedy, we could have got this kind of civil discussion much sooner.

You’ve a history of doing this mate, like for example your tirade against the ‘woke’ agenda where you flew off your handle against me because you incorrectly assumed I was against your views on that.

Also, you should know when I put player ratings up, I do it without watching replays and have said before they are certainly not foolproof, I do it to create discussion and if people disagree, I’m all for it. I do it without watching replays and if we’re honest, most of my ratings are probably incorrect but it is all part of the fun of post game discussion.

For future reference too, note in here how many people have praised Isaako’s game last night so you don’t need to come in here all guns blazing at all times, just try to be a bit nicer and people will enjoy discussions with you about your pet peeves. Come in here like an aggressive old man and people will treat you like one.

One thing i noticed James did a lot better than our other bench players was his talking. Might not sound like its much, but he was keeping others on their toes, organising them and making sure they stuck to their tasks. Robati and Kennedy just dont do that sort of thing. Its not always about the statistics that make a player valuable.

Thing is though, you get Huge saying the 6 again against his boy was nobodies fault, it was just rugby league the way it is. He then goes on to berate Carrigan for literally putting his hand on Cook giving away a penalty. Not grabbing him or pulling him back, just putting his hand on him Thats exactly the same sort of thing, its just rugby league rules. The players know the rules, so if they break them, no matter how trivial or stupid the rule might actually be, then you have to both put them in the same bracket. One cant be dumb and the other unlucky because they are the rules.

For the record, i love Huge and the way he posts, but he does seem to get a bit testy from time to time!

RK 5 runs for 51 metres, that's good. You would expect a bloke only having made 5 runs to not concede a penalty for not raking the ball back with his foot. The penalty quickly negates those metres he made, we were under extreme pressure leading into half-time as a result of his laziness and laziness after coming into the game off the bench, it's not good enough.

We cannot have lazy players making basic errors, we got away with it last night, we were good enough to defend it. In the past few years, we haven't been.

Deadset though, how good was Patty? Straight back from an ACL into the best performance of his career. He's off contract this year, so plenty of clubs would have taken notice. EDIT: He signed until end of 2024.

The entire team looked fit and strong.

Credit to KW, if that performance can be a baseline he'll have a long coaching career and it means we'll never have to see the horror of Paul Green.

I think you have a short memory there. Milford, Oates, Croft, Hopoate, Dearden, O'Sullivan, Joffa, and Kahu just off the top of my head were all worse than Boyd in 2020. Not that i think Darius was killing it, but he did a reasonable job in the scheme of things for a team that had very little quality all over the park. Apart from Kahu, all the others werent broken players in decline, most of them should have been a lot more capable than they were.

So happy the wife and I got to be at the game to see the boys step up like that. The effort in D was the highlight for me. The boys just continually turned up for each other and frustrated Walker to no end. Our forward pack could be something else in a few weeks. Thought Albert and Billy both did a good job last night, both impressed in their defence. Can't wait for Reynolds to come into this side and add the direction. Having Capewell out there gave the boys the boost they needed to finish the game. His talk is outstanding both sides of the footy.

Great game all round from the boys and plenty of areas for improvement. So a lot to be optimistic about as a fan. Up the Broncos.

Re: our improved defence last night. I noticed that the first in invariably tried to hold the attacker up to allow his support to get fully involved. The end result is the tackle lasts an extra 1 - 2 secs longer and gives our line time to retreat and re-set. great coaching as we never even looked like doing this the last couple of years.

Tbh, i think he was playing pretty ,much like he was in 2020, just with some better footwork now.
