Well that means Walsh AND Munster to the Dolphins which a far better result for them than getting Ponga anyway. We don't get any of the three, so who should we look at now Walsh is likely off the table?

To me, as a complete outsider looking in, this decision typifies where Kalyn Ponga is as a footballer and where he’s content to be as a footballer..

Three years ago, the rugby league & rugby Union worlds were his oyster.. and Newcastle looked like nothing more than a small time stopover & stepping stone to far bigger and better things..

Fast forward to 2022 and it’s a complete 180 imo.. I would argue he’s barely progressed at all as a player and he definitely hasn’t progressed as a player who wants to win.. as someone suggested on social media yesterday, Ponga looks like someone who plays football in order to finance their lifestyle.

Heading to the Dolphins as the face of a QLD franchise, under the coaching of Wayne Bennett had the potential to take him to the next level as a footballer and as a winner..

But instead, he’s opted to stay put in the comfort zone of Newcastle, with a guaranteed $1million a year for the next five+ years and a footy career at a blue collar club with less pressure & expectations

I dont think the Phins will actually be overly bothered. There is much better value for them elsewhere.

Yep, the world was his oyster. And now he's hanging around with oyster farmers.

If Donaghy, Ikin and whoever else aren't fighting tooth and nail to prevent that, they're inviting more disappointment for the broncos

They can try all they want, doesn't make any difference to the result if none of them want to go to Red HIll and really, aside from towels at our facilities, what do we have to offer? A legendary coach? Nope. Great facilities? Yep but so do most clubs. Great management? Heck no. Chances at premierships in the foreseeable future? Nope. Money outside the salary cap? Nope. Legendary players in the media who go in to bat for the club? Nope.

So you've now turned on DD and Ikin ... hmmm, didn't take you long

I don't recall him being that good.

I don't think he is but he can play there and that's why I said depth. Currently we have zero depth in that position.

I haven't but two thirds of the three key decision makers in the White years are still there, still influencing the club in all the wrong ways.

The day to day running of the club is done by DD, not the board if that's where you're going.

Decisions on our roster are made by Ikin and Kevvie ... also not the board

wonder how many get out clauses are in pongas contract

Clearly Ponga wasnt getting the money he felt he should be getting from potential suitors...

Which meant the Knights were really only up against themselves for his signature.

No well run club is paying that amount of money over 5 years in a salary capped league for him...
