Good win, lots of flash. Still too much clunkiness. Got away with a lot.

Ontop of whats already been mentioned.

The bad:
  • Left side clunky from Gamble and timings. Not sure whats up there but hes lost meters in his timing and positioning coming into the line during attack.
  • We need to find that extra gear coming into the back end of halves. Without Cobbo burning them, the match would have been far tighter. That broke their back.
  • Souths made that far easier for us than what scoreboard suggested.
The good:
  • Flegler, massive improvement to discipline. You can see hes thinking out there and still having an impact. Not easy to do when you've got a style.
  • Carrigan - that was a true leaders knock. Fantastic footy.
  • Forward pack is working together well, all are putting in and there for each other.
  • Bench rotation was good, although would like to see all the changes happening at least 5 minutes earlier.
  • Our backs are far more confident and trying to make and take opportunities. Something that was stifled last year.
  • TMM must be talking well out the back, our defense has not been this solid since Boyd was in peak form during 2015.

The best:
  • With wins like this, they are free lessons on what winning feels like and how to put away a game.
  • The clubs value and trajectory is on the up - as a player off contract you would only consider Melb, Roosters or Penrith previously. We could be in that mix now.
  • Kev is learning from mistakes and hes teaching them also. Reynolds would be playing a mega part in this.

How good is this image from pre-game last night. Maybe Flegler is a far better leader than we give him credit for, looks like a good old fashion rev up.

When Flegs was interviewed by Fittler in the sheds he was pretty nonchalant and give both Oates and Herbie a friendly serve for being on their phones and not enjoying the moment. It came across as if he was a bit of an Alpha male in there.

Here's a theory I have. COVID

Pretty much the entire team had covid in the late preseason or early season. Now everyone knows it takes a while to get back to full fitness after covid. Is this what we are seeing now with our players energy?

I think Selwyn def .
Back in the trials he was out of breath . Now he`s making multiple tackles from marker and running like a gazelle .

I thought Oates was out worst player. Rocks and diamonds but the rocks he dished up tonight will cost us a game soon.
His diamonds were good
Wut.

He knocked on once and clipped a defender shoulder another time on the way to catch. So really his standard one error.

beyond that he took his strong Carries, and was the reason for the try off the scrum. Typical solid Oatsey game in 2022.

One thing that is a good sign, they are starting to get more ruthless. No longer do we just park the bus when we are up by a slim margin with 10 to go. Reynolds is pushing them to keep playing and trying to score more points.

Get yourself a man who looks at you like Patty looks at Flegs.

In all seriousness Flegler looked great out there last night, following up a good, disciplined performance last week. Hopefully it's early enough in his career to turn around the refs' perception of him as a reckless player and he spends less time on the sideline.

A front row rotation of Hass and Pat starting interchanged with Flegs and Jensen seems like it could be one of the best in the comp, if they all keep up current form. It could be an amazing platform to build on going forward.

I thought we reaped the rewards of the hard work done earlier in the year. A lot on here were very vocal with their condemnation when we lost in round 3, 4 etc but I thought there were large parts of those games where we were top 4 material. We weren't far off and now we are putting together bigger chunks of top4 play.

Some good games tonight and some top games from a few. Jensen was solid, Carrigan good, Oates, Cobbo, Robati, Reynolds all top shelf. Hetherington was immense with good contributions from Walters and Paix and really good, mature forward play from Flegler. Very pleasing that is to be honest. Bit parts from Palasia and Kennedy were an acceptable standard. TMM was okay but needs some improvement. Staggs and Farny were good too. Hard to find any poor efforts. RK was deadset unlucky with that penalty, he clearly wasn't trying to elbow anyone.

Really happy chappy tonight. Well done KW and his coaching team.

Jensen has been value for money .

He did have four errors but in truth only two were genuine. Like going for a high catch and not being able to hold on to the ball knocking it forward. It was the awful knock on 30 metres out from our try line that sticks in the mind but this year he's been good and if he keeps making his catches etc we'll have little to complain about. Great club man and I hope we retain him.

Great to see a change tactically in defence last night.
What a difference line speed makes, good sting in the tackles.
Saw it against Cronulla too; i still think theres a touch of arrogance with teams coming up against us, thinking we are a soft touch...not any more...

Yeah I should have said a change in the last few weeks, but I haven't had my morning coffee yet WA time 🤣

Really great win by the boys, ive read a lot on this thread about Brisbane not needing Haas.....just stop now...

The guys a generational talent - what do you think he becomes if he leaves us and joins the Roosters or God forbid Melbourne?

He and Patty are our future props moving forwards. I have always believed that was the best pairing, now i just need more time and convincing on who is the long term 9.....not there yet?

The thing about Haas is, there is no good reason why he cant develop the nuances in his game that clearly are now starting to shine through for guys like Carrigan and (cant believe im saying it) Flegler. Hass is already throwing a few passes before the line on attacking sets...and he most certainly can offload in traffic.

I give him this, off-field issues and court dramas, Ramadan, yet the guy still turns up. Played brilliantly last week with a totally fucked AC joint!

I take great heart from the fact that yes, we can now finally win a forward battle without him in a game of NRL; doesnt mean he can now move on. Let him take as along as he needs to sort his shoulder out, take a extra week if you need it, cause i think we can hold the ship steady now.

Couldnt say that 6 months ago #progress

Lol...no worries mate. Staggs defence has seemingly improved overnight, cant believe the effort he is now putting in. Great game management from Arey to kick to Ronaldos wing all night then make Talakai have to ruck the ball up with Staggs directly in his face.

Then he backs that up with last nights game.

Im prepared to say that Staggs is now, for the moment, living up to his contract

How about the penalty against ? Billy ? where the guy just kept marching forward and Billy got pinged for holding the ball. The guy was still driving into the tackle! So sick of that tactic earning penalties. Two feet, set, before any six again or penalty can be blown. Pushing and gaining meters while being called held should be a "Back to your mark!" not a fucking penalty or six again.
Ball came loose .
Billy complained about the moving fwd . Ref said ball came out . Penalty .

RE Haas.....I don't think anyone is saying, forget about Payne.

But.......lets not go paying him ridiculous overs.
Life could go on without him.....

I think Herbie was trying to get up. Bullshit penalty.

It was a bullshit penalty, but it wasn't the wrong decision.

If he was trying to get up. It was to get up and play the ball.
