Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2023

So to sort of go back to the topic of Walsh (sort of spoken about sort of earlier sort of), how do we think he will go back at the Broncs next year?

He's got DariB in his corner bro, he'll be fine.

A full off season with the squad, a number of whom he's played with before and stayed good friends with while at the Warriors. He won't be filling the shoes of a great FB like he had to for the Warriors and I don't think he'll be expected to carry as much of the load as he was for them. Another year under his belt in the top grade...I think he'll be fine.

He’ll be good but inconsistent. Will do a lot for our attack and free up Reynolds a lot but will also have moments that make us pull our hair out.

My concern is our defence and Walsh won’t fix that, nor should he be expected too. Hopefully no off field issues.

I’d love to see Walsh and Mam build a strong combo that sticks together for years.

He should enjoy having Oates and Cobbs to hand the ball off to for early set hit ups, means he won't have to do much of the grunt work. I am liking what Reynolds-Mam-Walsh offers in attack. Both Mam and Walsh are great support players.

I hope we see some more effective offloads so Walsh can take full advantage. Line breaks will hopefully be converted into points more often with him supporting the breaks.

Tesi is a bad example because he is just actually not cut out at fullback. He’s never showed any promise there outside an enthusiastic running game. He was no good in Q Cup, was no good in NRL, no good again in cup, had 1 good game in NRL then was no good again, went back to cup where he was no good, and then was recently by far the worst player for Tonga against France. The kid does not have it.

He is a less skilful, short version of Isaako

He could improve, he's got time.

I think he could carve out a career as winger with a bit of hard work. He won’t be an NRL fullback at a successful team I will put my house on it

Nah I reckon he's too small in this day and age, he's got some skills close to the line, just needs to find some consistency with his ball catching and defensive reads.

It's not like he does things that defy belief, like one Jamayne Isaako.

I agree about his height but not about the rest of your assessment

I think he'd get found out on the wing due to his height ... maybe centre, he's got a good running game, but would need to work on his defence.

those few games he played for us at centre, his attack was quite good

I do hope that he doesnt shirk it completely though.

His role on get out sets could be sitting behind the ruck and then jumping into dummy half as soon as a quick ptb is created or an offload comes out.

It doesn't always need to be a line break, but he has the smarts and speed to get in there, run 10m, find his front and create a quick ptb for the next person.

Even those opportunities where the dummy half can go to the blind side instead of passing to the open side for the winger to get belted. They're easy meters and usually catch the defence out enough that they can generate a quick ptb for the next person.

Basically I want him to be looking for opportunities to run as much as possible, but not necessarily just running it into the middle of the defence to get bashed.

I feel like wing is where he should focus his attention as well.

Is he a giant? No, but neither is Too, May, Corey Thompson, etc. but they find a way

Tesi has a good motor and likes looking for work.... if he can figure out a way to defuse bombs against taller wingers he could go well out there

I dont see an NRL player in him at all anywhere at the moment. He lacks the basics for fullback, he lacks the defence and physicality that a modern day center needs and i dont see him as a To'o style winger as again, he lacks the physicality. He's a fullback or nothing imo. Needs to get the basics down pat for fullback and go from there.

I was trying to throw the kid a bone. I don’t think he is an NRL player period tbh. He’d get a start as a SL fullback if he keeps improving his catching. That’s about it unfortunately.
