Lol McHunt liked this because it is his agenda but also proved it to be wrong in his next post.
I think it shows that rather than an agenda it may just be his opinion based on his interpretation of the circumstances. It shows that he’s willing to be honest about information regarding the topic even when it means disproving comments that would strengthen his argument if left unchallenged

From the horses mouth. Wonder how many other players that weren’t good enough for their first choice position got that option.

anyone who wasn't good enough for their preferred position, but the best option in another position.

this comment from Billy shows two things:

1. Kev was prepared to drop his son
2. Billy is a team player, who will play where the team needs him

Not that it'll break the bank but I still think two years is too long. A one year deal would have been ideal, especially since it coincides with Kev's contract and would provide some flexibility with the roster.

The #9 is definitely going to be a talking point and I'll be curious to see if the Broncos rush Mozer in at some point. That certainly seems to be the way it's headed at this point.

Quite a few players have openly said they wanted to play elsewhere. For example:

Farnworth (fullback)
Oates (2nd row)
Staggs (five-eighth)
Cobbo (fullback/centre)
Paix (half)
Shocker the bloke who lives by the title of utility plays more than one position.

Haha yeah sure. Billy I’ll give you a choice…..first grade or qcup.

Yeah, much like extending Kev at the start of the season - there is literally no need to do it because the club has all the negotiation power. No other club is trying to snare either Walters from under us nor do either want to leave and even if they did it wouldn’t be a huge loss.

Zero need to give Billy more than a 1 year extension. At least with Kev it gives the players some feeling of stability.

I actually didn't mind that decision because it gave Walters the opportunity to fail. He didn't have to tinker with the teamlist constantly and hope to come up with the right combination, he was allowed to settle on combinations and I thought it worked out for the best.

Yeah the last line of my post explains that extending Kev had logic

2023 Off Contract

Jayden Berrell, Damien Cook, Joshua Cook, Lachlan Croker, Jake Granville, Siliva Havili, Kobe Hetherington, Jacob Liddle, Soni Luke, Andrew McCullough, Jayden Nikorima, Chris Randall, Mitch Rein, Reece Robson

2024 Off Contract

Wayde Egan, Josh Hodgson, Mitch Kenny, Freddy Lussick, Peter Mamouzelos, Jeremy Marshall-King, Rua Ngatikaura, Taniela Otukolo, Jake Simpkin, Tom Starling, Sam Verrills, Zac Woolford

I guess we could always bring McCullough back next year. 2 years is fine because it locks up the hooker that is better than those that are off contract for 2023 and 2024 too. Would be very silly for us to lose our utility/ only first grade level hooker in the hopes we get Damien Cook.

I think it was more "Billy, I'll give you a choice. Outplay Mam and Gamble or Turpin and Paix".

I'm not confident that this time next year you'll have that opinion. He's done enough for now to get a chance for a year, but a year is a long time and if Kev is released, that's one roster spot going to waste.

I was thinking we sign Granville at modest value and play him off the bench with Mozer starting, or vice versa. He can mentor Mozer in his final years and we save a fair bit of cap in the process.

if you want to train Mozer to be a slug, you bring back McC.

To declare billy Walters as better than every name on that list bar cook and Macca is some kind of joke right? To declare him first grade level is some kind of joke too? 4th worst defender in the comp is not the bloke you want playing in the middle.

Don't mistake me being fine with him being in the squad over wanting him to be our starting 9. Someone should be better than him, but at this point there's not many better actual options. And if we are running the club expecting Kevvie to be fired we should have sacked him already.

Obviously we shouldn't bring back McCullough. Granville also isn't good enough to mentor the "next QLD hooker" either. Unless you want Mozer to be a 20 minute hooker because that's the amount of time Granville is good at.

Sorry, I should have said better than the realistic options that are on barely any money. Even then, I would rate very few of those players as better options than Billy Walters, which again says a lot more about the quality of hooker in the competition than it does about Billy's abilities.

In saying that, how is he not first grade standard? He literally played more first grade games than any other Bronco this year. I'd be curious to see which players you'd rate above him. Technically if you can name 16 current NRL hookers that are better than him, maybe even 32 considering most teams have a backup hooker on the bench which is still a first grade player, I'll allow you to have this win. I'll be waiting.

Again, 4th worst defender in the entire comp. The same trait paix was dropped for, except he’s better at defence than billy.

He literally played more first grade games than any other Bronco this year.

You’d have to ask the coach about that. He should have been dropped to qcup after paix and Turpin dominated the parra game. Our losing streak began against the tigers of all teams when he came back next week.

Most from the lists you provided.

Why do they have to be current nrl hookers? And anyway, I seriously doubt that, I’m yet to see you admit you were ever wrong about anything in all my years on bhq. I won’t start holding my breath today.
