Probably that but Flegs should come off the bench. I doubt it will happen as a measure to keep him but it makes the rotation/impact stronger with Jensen starting imo.

In regards to the release??

By signing him for 24 and 25 the titans have put an end date on his time at the Broncos.... so that can put questions back on them.

Is there any point keeping him for 23 if he's gone??

Could that spot be better used on someone else??

Is our depth sufficient if we let him go early??

If someone like Willison, TC, etc. hits the ground running then Palasia may drop further down the list... if that happens I can see titans coming back asking for the release again.

Unless something dire happens with our middle stocks I can see Palasia moving to titans before June 30.

Maybe we'll do the Isaako trick again and play him Rd 1 so he counts as top 30 and then carry his salary to next year.
No, I don't understand how this story went so tits-up. There was an interview with Keenan saying he'd asked to leave and why, one with Kevvie saying he wanted him to stay, a spot-on leak that the Titans had signed him, and the general assumption it was going Keenan's way. All due diligence. Looked pretty bankable. I was fooled.

Unsurprisingly, Badel and a couple of others went early on it, while other outlets waited for the Titans announcement. They all had stories prepped about a massive coup. And then the big bellyflop. Someone somewhere is pissing their pants over this.

Yeah I definitely agree with you I just didn’t bother putting it that way in the list because I knew it would basically not be a chance of occurring. I think that is a far better rotation. Let Jensen toil away for 25 minutes then tell Flegler to come off the bench and outdo whatever Patty and Haas had achieved to start the game. Patty and Haas should only need to play 60 minutes each considering our forward options.

I am always happy to sink the boot in to journalists when they act like gossip columnists but in this instance, I don't think it is that big a deal. All the signs seemed to point to Palasia getting a release, so makes sense to make a confident judgement that this is what was going to happen. This is different to totally fabricating stories.

☝🏼exactly! They shouldn’t be getting burned out at the end of each game by playing longer than they should.

To a lesser extent, part of me thinks that burning often could be one of the reasons for Payne’s release request besides his desire for a bigger pay check & his idiot advisors.

Could also be a reason for our fade out in the back end of the season too. Too many players playing too long and busted.

Yeah I was mulling over this. I honestly don't know the stats and the minutes each player played, but if Kev was quite rigid with his interchange timing it could well have been something that other teams exploited after seeing a pattern. Especially those with clued up coaches. It would just be a matter of knowing that X player is normally subbed off at X time, spend the 5 minutes leading up to that time targeting that guy heavily to really gas them out and leave a weak point to exploit.

If you had the time to go through the interchanges in the first half of the season, look at the timing of each, and then look at the times that the tries were scored against us later in the season, you could argue a correlation. The reason it only happened towards the back end of the season would be, considering injuries, team mix, etc, the first half would be more erratic and it would take that long to establish the trends.

I'll assume going by last season there is unlikely to be a bench backrower(Robati could do Middle but not as effective).

I think it will be a battle between Willison and Palasia for that spot with Willison probably coming out on top at the start of the season because he is due more game time now, this is assuming no injuries.

I agree Kevie prefers not to carry one but we should. Capewell and Riki struggled to play 80min towards the end and we need a back up to capewell who moves into the backs when there is an injury.

defence focus we should carry one. We have a good middle rotation, the 4th bench spot has been treated like a luxury choice anyway to might as well have someone who is primarily second rower but can fill middle

Yeah it almost makes too much sense

I don’t know if it has been reported in here but Harradyn Wilson is at Manly now. Don’t know what role that is in whether it is development or main. I don’t think it is train and trial cause he at the very least would of had that up here but you never know.

Surprised there is no news on Kearney.
Anyone have an update
It's too soon to write him off. He was still contracted to the Storm up until the end of November, doing what I don't know. The source on all this is a speculative piece by Badel at the end of October. He might have some inside chatter, or he might be connecting the same dots as the rest of us. Either way, we know he's moving back to Brisbane, the timing is right and he'd be a good fit. It's a fair bet by Badel. But here's the meat in the piece (excluding Corey Parker's opinion):

"News Corp can reveal Brisbane officialdom are keen for Kearney to return to Red Hill."
"He will stand down as Craig Bellamy’s assistant at Melbourne at the end of November and return to his family in Brisbane."
" It is understood Walters has not had talks with Kearney at this stage given that the 50-year-old is officially contracted to the Storm for another month."
"He lives just a short drive from Broncos headquarters"
If we can take any of this seriously, it might be a week or more before we hear he's "set to" sign.

Hope he goes alright, had a rough trot with the Magpies this year. Have too many young halves as it is though, so best of luck to him.

Fox Sports reporting that we signed James Johnson who plays Center from Knights for next season. They’re also reporting that he’s currently training with our main squad. Does anyone know about this?
For the life of me, I don’t get why we’re stacking ourselves with too many Center options?
