OFFICIAL Carrigan signs until 2028

Champion lock forward Pat Carrigan will be a Bronco until at least the end of the 2028 season. The Wally Lewis Medal winner for Queensland's player of the series in last year's Origin triumph was already signed with the Broncos to the end 2024 - and he has now committed to a four-year extension in a huge show of faith in the club.

The 25-year-old's stellar form last season also saw him make his Kangaroos debut and go on to win the World Cup in England, his 2022 heroics all the more remarkable considering he was returning from a knee reconstruction that required a gruelling nine-month rehabilitation. During his breakout 2022 season, Carrigan averaged a huge 150 running metres (61 of those post-contact) and 32 tackles per game, as well as 21 tackle breaks and 19 offloads. A key member of Brisbane's Leadership Group and graduate of the Broncos Academy, Carrigan joins a host of teammates to commit to the club long-term.

700k, it would surely be more than that. The salarycap is 12.1mil this year which is a big increase.

Big extension to a key player handled quietly and efficiently before he even hit the open market. This is exactly how all the quality clubs do it and hats off to Broncos for handling this perfectly.

Carrigan is a future captain and will only get better with time.

Bet the dolphins would have traded both Flegler and Herbie to get their hands on Patty … this is a huge win.

Pffft, nah screw @Wolfie, he loves it. There is also that element of Chinese whispers where this person said that who said it to someone else and before you know it, Peter Wallace is lacing up the boots for us from a reliable source.

@Smokin' Joe still pokes his head in occasionally to like posts etc but I actually think it's more to do with the way the place is these days and he doesn't want to be even remotely responsible for a leak.

First of all, this. Well said. Thing I hate most on BHQ is people discrediting information that we receive. If it's wrong, who cares? It might have been right at the time and things change. I'd rather have some kind of rumour than nothing at all.
