PM team didn't include players still involved in the finals at the time of announcing the team from memory so players such as Daine Laurie, Jojo Fifita, Zac Lomax, Josh King, Max King, Jake Simpkin, Luke Garner were selected so take selection with a pinch of salt.

I don't think it would be the worst think if he didn't make the team this year..

Depends on who's available, but I think another year of club footy would be good for him without the added pressure and workload of an origin series..

But In reality I wouldn't be surprised if he is picked again, given he is looking a little stronger this season when taking tough runs he has been pretty valuable.

Yeah, referring to him as a fringe first grader is harsh but be interesting to see if he started his career at a team like the Warriors or Bulldogs and was Qld eligible would he have got noticed enough to be picked. If Jacob Kiraz or even Jojo Fifita was a Bronco we would probably have to fend off 600k a year offers...

As to Origin, i think Oates is playing better the last 12 months and would also be finding a spot for Gagai and Holmes over Cobbo. Leaves 1 spot and i can see Cobbo getting that and i wouldn't be too upset about that. I think he is better than Coates and much of a muchness with Taulagi.

Oates will be struggling with weight .
Eating enough to keep playing weight is gonna be hard . Then no contact for 6 -8 weeks he isn`t making Origin this year .

Gagai and Holmes as centres . Coates and Cobbo wings is my call . Walsh FB .

Barring injury Holmes and Gagai will be the Qld centres.

With Oates injury he'll most likely miss injury so that leaves two wing spots and most likely players I would think would be Xavier Coates and Sideline Selwyn.
The other players to play Origin in the outside backs over the last few years are Murray Taulagi, Kyle Feldt, Edrick Lee, The Hammer. I guess the Hammer is really the only one that could possibly pip our Sel for the spot. Unless I'm missing somebody.

Selwyn is special. He's gifted in a way you can't train, and it may be that he'll always make more than his share of blunders and need to be handled differently.

But the return on this risk - and our collective patience - is the brand of freakish football that makes this game so rewarding to watch.

I wouldn't be picking him in Origin on his form so far this season, but I'm liable to change my mind.

I knew it the 1st time I saw him scoop up a loose ball and take off .
Like 3 seasons back .

Remember he played a few games at the end of that season when Kotoni was out at right centre . Schooled Bradman Best one day I recall .

As for your opinion on Walters criticism, it’s also not true. What Cobbo did on that podcast was flat out dumb, and as a Broncos fan I’m tired of all the idiots this club has had over the years putting more pressure on the club than necessary.

Who are the good people around him that weren’t there last year that DD decided to bring in? Walters friend Lee Briers?

I said forced to accept what DD wants, not whos been brought in. Matterson, gone. His brother, gone.
