NRLW NRLW Brisbane Broncos Discussion

The moment the rumours first surfaced you just knew it was happening.

I know there's people that aren't excited by this signing but I'm very excited for it. She's a good player.
She looks to have the best kicking game across the NRLW so that will be pretty dominant when combined with the rest of the squad

Twitter is in meltdown mode.
Its actually unbelievable how stupid they all are.....

We lost FOUR starters hahahaha.... then to make it even more ridiculous they are blowing up, the Knights bought their premierships by buying our 2 best players in 1 year lol and roosters took aitken and eventually Millie as well via the Knights. Knights were complaining Upton came back like they reared her from childhood ffs, it was comical...

I laugh at the bs from Sydney fans sometimes but other times it just is deadset unbelievable. No one can tell me with a straight face that if we win 4 in a row like the Panthers the nrl wouldn't change the salary cap. I mean, look at the dolphins. They brought them in becuase we had a monopoly on brisbane talent (despite every club having scouts up here and us not winning for 2 decades), yet they slowed up last year we had more games in brisbanr hahahaha of course we do, you idiots DEMANDED another brisbane team! (And we still have less games out of our city than Sydney clubs do by a looooong margin you ****ing idiots).

This is just another example of their stupidity to me....

Finally we’ll have a goal kicker. We might actually get a few 100 point games.

It’s all mis-directed anger.

It should be aimed at Knights hierarchy for hiring Ben Jeffries.

Did anyone do their due diligence into why the Cows W team let him go after the 1st year of a 3 year contract?

Why did they let him go?

Can't find anything on the web, other than some articles that say he quit to take up the job with the Knights, and others that say he was released.

The players didn't get along with him. He was seen as abrasive and a dickhead.

Now the word is the same thing is happening at the Knights. Since he's joined, they have lost some big names.

Yeah pretty much this. I’ve seen talk of Upton not rating him as a coach, and allegedly turning the dressing room against him, and was one of the reasons she left.

How much of that is true I don’t know, but he seems to have a problem with keeping his players on his side.

Also Jesse was only on Player options for 26 and 27. Dunno why you’d give your (now/future) franchise player self-options knowing how volatile the player movement market is

Hearing rumours that we're looking to bring Mato back to the club.

She's been released by the Titans. Huge get if we land her. She would be a great replacement for Neta.

Broncs fan growing up is always a nice touch.

Which shows the strength of our appeal, even in Cowboy country that a 21yo grows up supporting us.

The outrage from other clubs is pretty great lol.

I mean, I get it...it really isn't fair atm with the way the competition is but I will enjoy the **** out of it while I can. Like a Bunnies supporter that carries on about 20 something premierships when it was like, a 2 team competition. Or those NSW flogs that bring up 20ish in a row from the 60's before it became actual State of Origin.

I would get the outrage if we had the same side next year, but we're losing 7 players, 4 of those are rep players with one of them being the Kiwi Ferns 5/8 and then next year is Ali's last year and I have no doubt we'll lose more players, as well.

Do people really expect us to use a rookie instead?

...yes.

Yeah Cows fans are pissed, which I am A-OK with.

Problem is the Roosters aren't losing any players, so it looks like we're just signing anyone half-decent that's on the market and coming out strong still.

I sure hope we have new deals for Sauaso and Hicks loaded ready to announce, because they're the two best forwards under 20 in the comp, and Shalom is already in the top 10 after one season. I'd think we do as they weren't part of the farewell list. If we don't, I have some very strong questions for Scott and Paul.

So far our Gains and Losses have been:

Losses: Broughton, Hufanga, Nu'uausala, K Joseph, Hudson, S Joseph, Gould (dev contract)

Gains: Southwell, Yarrow.

Signed Players:

PlayerSigned years/comments
Ali Brigginshaw2026 - final season

Bree Spreadboroughno contract status
Brianna Clark2026
Chelsea Lenarduzzi2026, 2027
Destiny Brillno contract status
Georgia Bartlett2025 dev, upgrade for 2026? should retain w/ the Falcons affiliation + Hudson departure
Hayley Maddick2026 - possible final year
Jada Ferguson2026
Jesse Southwell2026, 2027
Julia Robinson2026, 2027
Kerri Johnson2026
Lauren Dam2026
Lillian Yarrow2026, 2027
Reegan Hicksno contract status
Romy Teitzel2026, 2027
Shalom Sauasono contract status
Shenae Ciesiolka2026, 2027
Skyla Adams2026 (club option)
Tafito Lafaele2026, 2027
Tamika Upton2026, 2027
Tara McGrath-West2026

By my count that's only 17 confirmed players, 21 if we assume we'll retain the unconfirmed 4 of Spready, Brill, Hicks and Sauaso.

That leaves 3 spots and the 4 development contracts. Bartlett and Misa may take any combination of those, so still 5 spots to likely fill.

We appear to still have hooker Kaylani Tavita on the books through the academy, she might come onto the development list now she's playing BMD and attended the NRLW Rising Talent Invitational this year.

There's also Jada's younger sister Pypah who plays lock, captained the U19s Country Origin team in 2024 and played BMD for the Clydesdales this year, so with her connection I won't be surprised to see her on a development contract at some stage

I would like a little outside back depth now with Mele gone. With Dam solidifying her place in the second-row this season (surely you can't move her out after that), we're looking a little thin. As I've said before I still don't know what Maaka's position is, so we don't have a recognised back 5 player aside from Bartlett that's not in the team already.

1. Upton
2. Johnson
