Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2026

Man a few losses and we completely over-react. Talty is an amazing player for what he is being paid. 1 month ago he is rightfully being talked about as great for us, a few losses and he has regressed.

But the stats don't lie.

He played bigger minutes and now it is regressing. Now sure, that is likely due to some forwards coming back.

However, you compare 2025 to 2026:
Minutes 26 → 34.5
Run metres 65 → 80

Tackles 15 → 22.5
Missed T 1.5 → 1.5
Errors 0.5 → ~0.9
Ineffective Tackles 1.2 → ~2.8

So yes, he is making slightly more metres and more tackles but the by product is more errors and significantly more ineffective tackles.

Given our defense is abysmal, that is a significant regression.

Essentially, we are asking him to do more (take on the Kobe role) and he is not coping with it defensively.

I’m sure if you looked at everyone’s stats from last year, they would all be worse (except maybe Mariner and Karp)

I don’t see why he’s under the microscope necessarily considering all the differences to last year

Is Bullemor dropped? If so, we should make a phone call to the SEagles.

Does anyone else think it would be a good idea to release Mam so he can sign for big money with PNG? He's a waste of salary cap here IMO. He plays like a 300k a season rookie. Should be much better by now.

It astonishes me the amount of people that think a player that's only in his fourth full year of NRL should be the finished product by now and not have any rough patches.

Honestly....

Great in '23. Mixed bag in '24, understandable considering he was one of the players left running the side with Reyno out and he's just not that type of player yet. One of the form 5/8's of the comp in '25 until his injury, people who say otherwise have a very short memory, and killed it from the bench when he got back. Having a rough year so far in '26 but can still turn it around.

Let the ****ing guy develop. He hasn't even fully matured yet. Halves don't tend to hit their peak until they do.

He's got the attributes you would want in a 5/8, just needs to learn how to use those consistently.

If we do, who do we try and replace him with?

No, look yeah he's having a bad season but so do a lot of players and 23 and 25 showed what he is capable of.
I don't know if it's he's just carrying an injury or it's psychological but I believe the main problem is the same affecting the entire team, Injury's have destroyed any attempt at building consistency this year. He's signed until the end of 29, so give him the rest of the Season and next year to get right, if not then yeah we'll have to move him on. If he does ask for a release after being dropped then my opinion of him will be the same as Coby Black, not worth keeping if they wont fight for their spot on the team.

$800k is too much.

There are so many options. Perth just signed Dragons junior Jasais Ah Kee.. I have no doubt he'll be 10 times the player Mam will ever be. He's Perth's Isaiya Katoa, but I rate him higher. Has a better running game.

If we want a ready made option. I really like the look of Luke Hanson at Warriors. I've actually been watching him since he was at Panthers. He's just a pro. Tough, aggressive, skillful... He's a natural. Reminds me of James Maloney, but with more physicality.

We are the Broncos after all and we should be able to go out and sign the best junior talent. Haami Loza is a kid that I think has flown under the radar. Kid is a freak.

I could list so many but I've got stuff to do

22 years old and can't crack the Warriors side?

Why?

They’ve been patient developing him. Luke Metcalf is in NSW Cup at the moment. Hanson is now making the bench for Warriors in NRL. I don’t think the Warriors planned for CHT and Boyd to play as well as they have. I think the original plan was to have Hanson at 6 and Metcalf 7.

If we do, who do we try and replace him with?

why do you ask him that question when you know what the answer will be.

some random Qcup / NSW cup player who he has seen a few 2 minute youtube videos of

We need a good, solid, fast, creative 9.
Amazes me with the resources that we’ve got that we just haven’t had one in forever.
Knights did a great job getting Harrison Graham.
In face the knights recruitment space has been amazing, and transformed them from the spoon into a genuine finals team, currently sitting inside the 4.
The likes of Graham and Mooney, O’sullivan doing a great job. What’s our recruitment doing?

How does gamble go these days? I haven’t watched the knights in ages.
