also about Sam Walker, you throw a kid like that in our team full of inexperience and all that, he probably doesn't look half as good

That Roosters side is a gun team
Yeah, except when he debuted our spine had more nrl games than his one did... (although their other players make up for it)

I’m sure any player would be shit with our garbage forwards and shit support play, but still, Dearden hasn’t done anything remotely impressive

I think an issue with the broncos is they probably spend too much time looking at videos of their games. They should be arching videos of the other teams in the competition because they aren’t going to learn anything watching our fuckwits pretend to be footballers. They don’t even run onto the ball for **** sake

Not at the end of the day. Not at the position he wanted. It doesn’t count when they leave to change positions. At the end of the day they chose Tedesco at fullback over latrell at fullback

you didn't put any conditions on your statement ... you simply said that the Roosters haven't lost a player they wanted to keep in a decade.

that statement is provably false... because teams like the Roosters don't offer people they don't want 800k a year contracts

This would be the point... Broncos wouldn't actually pull out of junior development they would just threaten to do it in an attempt to send NRL into crisis mode... "Who will pick up the slack?"

GC via Mal would suggest "look if broncos want to pull out that's fine with us we will just pick up the slack"... but they wouldn't. Why would they bother they have created agreements with Keebra Park (only took them 14yr) and PBC. Broncos should be pissed about losing Marsden though (another serious **** up by R&R).

The Brisbane plastics don't even exist yet, but to think they will be able to start up in Ipswich or Redcliffe and then instantly expand out to cover the kind of ground Brisbane already do at start up would be a bit much.

The NSWRL teams would just jump in and start throwing down flags to mark their territories and pick scraps here and there. It would leave qld development in the lurch for a long time... and that would be a problem for QRL and NRL by way of state of origin.

But it is NSWRL so they probably wouldn't really care until Melbourne and Roosters kick up a stink about one of their development teams proposing to pull its funding.

Didn't Melbourne have Marsden? I remember playing school league back in the day and all their students were going through to Melbourne.

Brisbane hasn't done much right as grassroots level for years either.

It's as simple as sign Reynolds, Drinkwater and B Smith.

If that looks more like Reynolds, Walker and B Smith then even better, but I don't like our chances of landing Walker.

I really can’t see us landing Reynolds. A lot of people are banking on the fact that he’s coming and will be our saviour. But what if he doesn’t come? There really is no one else

Not sure... but whether it's lost or never had it's still something the broncos should be pissed about it's in Brisbane.

We lost Souths Logan to Canberra before finally getting it back, and now we just let a school connection be lost as well.... things just slip all over the place in the organisation at the moment

I’d add nicho hynes to that list as well. Let Coates leave if he wants $500k, move Isaako to wing and pay hynes the $400-500k from Coates. Give the majority of milfords $1m to Adam Reynolds or Mitch Moses, and get drink water in.

We can whinge about the short-sighted NRL's ridiculous rules and obviously glaring omissions which are ruining the game and kick up a stink and wish things were different and cry poor.... or we can just accept that this is the way the game is now and adapt. We only have ourselves to blame for making the same mistakes over and over and wondering why our best talent keeps getting stolen away. We've lost an entire next generation of potential first grade stars.. it's hearbreaking.
You do know they're not dead, right? It seems like you believe they will never ever again enter South East Queensland. They aren't on a 250 year deep sleep deep space journey to Proxima Centauri. We might get them later, we might not need them.

It doesn't change the fact that the team is weaker and our prospects dimmer without them.

Also doesn't change the fact that now that they're off the books, it is less likely we can recruit them back than it would have been to retain them if they had stayed.

I’m not sold on Smith, but if Melbourne want a player before releasing him I reckon they would go for Isaako with Ado-Carr leaving. Probably turn into a pretty good player too.
They want Coates.

How much $ are we going to have, to go to market in 2022? Surely it’d have to be a fair bit..
Looking at the off contract list, I would say about 2.5mill and that’s probably undervaluing blokes to try and come up with a close $.
That doesn’t take into account Bird, Offa and Macca who will be completely off our books also. So probably around 3-3.5mill I’d be guessing.
then minus the 700k we will be spending on Staggs, plus say 500k for Coates (assuming both sign).
We should have anywhere from 1.8-2.3mill to go to market (again, that should be pretty conservative).
I’ve got no idea if these numbers are even close, but surely that’d have to be about the figure..
Thoughts?

The thought has occurred to me that the whole of Sydney and Melbourne must be in raptures at thought of the Titans poaching and getting into bidding wars with us. Now that the Cows have grabbed Dearden they must be thinking how nice it is to see two Queensland teams rip in our playing stock.

Add the Warriors snatching of Walsh and we're seriously under attack. I don't expect Morris' footy nous stretches to knowing who our players are let alone how to stop the severe body blows we're coping. So I'm wondering if DD is going to be able to rectify this on his own.

Cap space won't be the problem. Selling players on coming here being good for their careers will be.

Ok latest list (you know my fetish), thoughts?

1. Hammer
2. Coates (But not on what he wants)/Cobbo/H.Hunt
3. Farnworth
4. Mann/Opacic (apparently he is staying at Parra?)
5. Oates
6. Staggs
7. Taylor
8. Haas
9. Turpin
10. Lodge
11. Su'A
12. Capewell
13.. Pangai Jr

14. Walters/Paix
15. Bullemor/Flegler/Carrigan/Kennedy
16. Solid first grader, I don't know who, maybe even from Q Cup
17. Riki/Piakura/Hetherington

This is 100% affordable and the beauty of the Mann signing is that if Staggs doesn't work out at six, you can easily swap them. This also means there is actually competition for spots on the bench and a little bit of depth even.

Worst comes to worse and we dont nab reynolds, SJ or moses i think you might have to consider widdop. He may not be the same quality he was when he left but he can provide that leadership, direction and kicking.

Left field option, if we are wanting experience and organisation in the spine, canberra may be willing to let hodgson go. They have starling who has gelled well with the rest of the spine and hodgson seems to have some difficulties adopting a lesser role in the play making with a more experienced half and wighton who is developing better ball skills.
