10/11 Football Thead

devastating this morning. got up hella early and went in late for work just to see the boys lose in extra time :( oh well, we will get these pricks in CL

Come on, you gotta keep up! [icon_confu
Even with a lesser team, Mourinho will keep improving and finding ways to strangle Barca's creativity.

In other news:
After losing the first game at home 2-0 against our bitter rivals Benfica, Porto went to Lisbon to win AGAIN 3-1 (we clinched the championship at their home ground also with a 2-1 victory 2 weeks ago*) and qualified for the final of the Portuguese cup. Still on track to win every comp we entered this year.
GO you good things! _woohoo_

* After the ref's last whistle, Benfica turned the lights off and the sprinklers on, but we still celebrated madly! [icon_drun [icon_drun [icon_drun

Yep I am in the same boat early wake up and late for work. BUMMER! But it was the least significant of our titles for the season, UCL should be very interesting as Mourinho is finding his feet well and truly now with this Madrid side and they are now not easy beats for us. We need Puyol back so bad! Pique isn't contributing coming forward coz he is paranoid Busquets or Mascherano will make an error, once he is back from the start of matches we will be much better. Would also have loved to have seen earlier yellows to guys like Alonso, Ramos, Pepe and Arbeloa they all made very crude challenges on Messi and Pedro that barely went punished!

Arsenal are such a gutless team. So much finesse and style but no balls.

http://www.goal.com/en/news/12/spai...jose-mourinho-will-no-longer-talk-unless-uefa

I hope they don't "explain" their ban to him so he shuts up forever, but seriously how much of an arrogant f#ckwit is this man! He claims to not know what he did??? He claimed Pep's accomplishments are tainted by referees and that this is linked to our sponsorship with Unicef and that the now UEFA Vice President who was previously involved with Unicef is somehow involved in such a way that Barca receive special treatment from UEFA through refereeing decisions. He basically called Barca and the governing body UEFA cheats while questioning the credibility of a non profit organisation. This guy is an absolute stain on world football and comments like this just show just how little respect he has and just how childish he is when things don't go his way. He is the first to act like a nut case when his team gets a big win (running down the touchline at Old Trafford with Porto and also thumbing the Manc fans noses in it) but as soon as something goes against him he acts like he must have somehow been cheated because he is so arrogant he can't take a loss on the chin.

Ref tonight for the Mancs/Chelsea game is Howard Webb.

May as well give the scum the title right now. [icon_non

both of those teams are the scum

Man City have confirmed the route for their open top bus parade...

Man City offering 114 M euros to Real for Ronaldo... [icon_ee

It wasn't the prettiest game, but the EL cup is ours :!: :!: :!:

omfg i hope so. I wanna go down to Pig n Whistle, wonder if any Barca fans will be there. anyone care to join me?

I heard it was a very dull match.

Congrats to Porto though. Villas Boas has done extremely well.

I wonder how long it will be before Falcao and Hulk are bought by a major European team?

Rolando is probably on the shopping list for many as well.

Hulk will go soon for sure!

It wasn't dull, but it wasn't attractive, much because of Braga's defensive attitude, which I can't really blame given the obvious quality difference between the teams and the success they've had playing that way all season.
Porto didn't really need to pile on the pressure after the first goal, and just controlled the game until the end.
Finals are there to be won. Playing pretty is optional! [icon_wink

As for transfers:
Vilas Boas doesn't want to leave. He is a true supporter of FC Porto and already said many times he's in his dream position. Imagine if you were training your favourite team, would you move anywhere else for more money?

Hulk costs 100 M euro, Falcao half that. Let's see the money first gents! [icon_razz1

They will eventually go of course, but I'm willing to bet that they want a go at the CL first...

Hoping we meet Barca in the supercup, should be a magnificent game! icon_thumbs_u
