Del Piero... He's like 37, is he still any good at that age?

Obviously it's just a retirement cheque but the young guys at the club could learn a lot from someone like him.

I think it's a brilliant deal for Sydney.

Del Piero's only just stopped playing in the Serie A, which while a lot slower (and dodgier!) than most other major European leagues, is still full of quality.

Even if he hasn't got the legs he once had, his technical ability and football smarts will always have him one step ahead of A-League defenders. I reckon he'll carve up over here if his heart is in it. Can't wait to see how he does.

Del Piero starring on the pitch would be great for the A-League. Though you could argue Yorke did well I dont think any import has really been that great - a player like Del Piero truly succeeding in the A-League could help set the path for others to follow.

It would be awesome if he actually carved it up here. The Sydney players would be thrilled to get to play with him next year.
From what I can gather if it all goes through he'll be playing in October, that'll be a game to watch.

Some interesting moves about. Van Der Vaart to Hamburg for 16m or so, Moutinho and Lloros to Spurs. Also hearing Dempsey and Sturridge to Liverpool and that Del Piero is headed to Bondi.

What? I'm not going anywhere. Certainly not the lame spurs!

Newcastle Jets apparently have signed Heskey. A lot of people seem to be treating it as a joke, I think he could make a huge impact for the Jets. He won't be another Jardel.

Still a little surprised we've landed Heskey TBH... just came out of nowhere!

I agree with you that'll do well, too. His strength and ability to hold up the ball is something that's really missing from the Jets' squad... I reckon he might do the unthinkable and score a few goals as well! Have already pencilled in Saturday, October 13 to head down to the SFS and get my first glimpse of Del Piero in the flesh (and watch the Jets of course) in what will hopefully be a sell out match (first Sydney home game). Gonna be sweeeeeeeeet as. :rockon:

If the Wanderers can lure Ballack to our shore, that would just be absolutely massive on top of the Del Piero signing, and to a much lesser extent, the signing of the great Emile. :laugh:

Oh my, I'm actually very excited to see the great Del Piero play in Australia!
I can't wait for his first game, definitely tuning in for that one.

If Ballack signs as well that would be some incredible signatures for the A-League. All players from premier footballing teams coming straight to Australia.

Woo, bring on game 1, go Piero! I really want him to kill it here.

I've always thought Heskey was total rubbish. But for the sake of the A-League, I hope he does well.
