Australia 17-man squad: Aaron Finch (c), David Warner, Steve Smith, Shane Watson, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Wade, James Faulkner, John Hastings, Shaun Marsh, Cameron Boyce, Nathan Lyon, Chris Lynn, Travis Head, Kane Richardson, Andrew Tye, Scott Boland, Shaun Tait

Really excited to see Chris Lynn picked. He has been in great form of late.

So Lyon is tearing it up in tests which he was picked for on the back of good limited overs form in the first place but can't crack the 50 overs team. Boland doesn't seem to offer anything at all in any form but is picked based on one decent innings at the right time in a mediocre career and is now an all format selection. All this despite the t20 WC being played in spin friendly conditions for which we should be preparing. Go figure!

Just glad there's a team without Mitchell Marsh

As an interesting point, for our SL tour later in the year, would it be worth looking at playing Maxwell at 6 instead of MMarsh and then Lyon and SOK as well? Then you go in with Hazlewood and Starc/Pattinson (whichever is fit) as your two pacies? May not be the worst idea to try in preparation for the next Indian tour.

Not convinced Wade is the best T20 keeper we have. Also somewhat surprised that Agar wasn't picked given how useful of a batsman he is.

So well said about Boland. I just don't get the selectors love for him one bit. Just had 1 strong performance before the Windies series and now he seems like he is next in line for everything. He hasn't offered anything in his 3 ODI's has figures of 1/201 at a rate of almost 7 an over. Even Mick Lewis was better than him.

im very surprised that Shaun tait made the side i know he has been bowling quick and good in bbl but i would have went with a young pace bowler with tait being. also i belive tim paine has to be our t20 and odi keeper with wade being a solid batter but mediocre keeper. also i am very disapointed in the australian selectors. Mark waugh made a comment when commentating in the bbl that that side definitely wont be our t20 world cup. For me we should be preparing our side for indian conditions and getting our bowlers bowling in combinations and playing as a team. i would hate to walk into the cup with a team that barely knows there teammates own game and bowlers who cant bowl as a team in spells

It's all well and good to choose a side for Indian conditions...in Indian conditions. This is a team for Australian conditions...in Australia. The nucleus of this side will be the same as the WC so not concerned about teamwork, etc. Tait is only 30/31 so he's not too old. Having an express bowler in India will be better than plodders like Boland who will effectively be serving up skidding hit me balls. Tait is a good choice.

From this squad, my first choice XI would be:

1. Warner
2. Finch
3. Lynn
4. Smith
5. Maxwell
6. Faulkner
7. Wade
8. Hastings
9. Boyce (I'd prefer Zampa as they are basically the same but Zampa is a good batsman)
10. Lyon
11. Tait

Sharma is on fire.

0/31 after 3 overs.

Richardson hasn't been able to take two tough opportunities.

Watto!

Instant impact, Sharma's gone.

Here comes Kohli.

Dharwin was completely bamboozled by Watson.

A super over from the Ipswich product.

My dad is amazing. Few minutes ago he says "why is this useless Watson in the team"

Next minute

Super late to the party on this, but why is Finch captain?

Am I the only one who thinks Faulkner is a bit overrated?
