2011 Four Nations - Australian squad named

I hate Beau Scott too but I can live with this decision - he's been in good form all season and I thought he was one of NSW's best and did a better job than ironically (I really don't know the meaning of this word, I just throw it in when I deem applicable) his replacement Glenn Stewart.

Considering Greg Bird and Nate Myles were being touted as replacements, I'm happy with this.

Don't you think another prop in the squad would have been the better option... ?

3 props is obviously enough. LOL! they will have to play every game, and big minutes too. It's not like prop is the most tiring position on the field...oh...wait.

at least there is one dragon now to keep the dragons fans quiet.

I think another centre would have been a better option.

But when names like Greg Bird or Nate Myles are popping up, Scott is the lesser evil. In fact, I rate him above Glenn Stewart too.

Whilst 3 props might seem short, let's be honest here -- It doesn't matter! This isn't a cricket test series where picking the right number of player types is going to matter. It's International Rugby League, something that quite frankly doesn't matter that much, has little prestige to it and outside of a game against New Zealand, will offer no real danger at all to the Australian team.

And before you all start jumping up and down and saying how you care that Australia wins, well, that's great, but I doubt the players care that much. How many players have already taken themselves out of contention for personal reasons, to have off-season surgery, to rest etc? You think that they'd do that if this were Origin instead of Internationals? Ok, Lyon would, but beyond that I highly doubt it. This is Rugby League Internationals, where frankly, it doesn't really matter all that much unless you're a kiwi.

Frankly, unlike a true international sport, Australia has nothing it can legitimately achieve in International Rugby League, so the composition of the team and who the coach is really matters for little.

You should see the interview with Parker and see how much he doesn't care.

Wow. I don't think I've seen a post I disagree with more seriously in my life. I suggest you read Locky's book to get a picture of how he and the modern Australian team have had their pride in the jersey restored.

Your view is 8 years out of date.

Wish the selectors and coach took the four nations as serious as Lockyer does.

I think Sheens does. Again from Locky's book.

Sheens is a myth, absolute joke he is coach. Muppet of the highest order. The squad is a joke really.

IMO being selected for Australia is the honour, not winning Internationals. Being selected for Australia is supposedly a recognition that you are one of the best 17 players in the country, and it's definitely an honour. Winning with Australia just means you beat out what is often times a bit-part Kiwi team.

And i steadfastly stand behind my belief that Australia has nothing to legitimately achieve in the game. At the best of times it has one opponent who can legitimately challenge it. That's like State of Origin, except inferior.

Move Origin to the end of the season and yes, Players would drop out for personal reasons.

S**t the muppets takes me back, can't wait for the Jason Segal movie later in the year.

I think at full strength, the Aussie squad is still pretty awesome. I mean, Slater, Lockyer, JT, Smith *jizz*. On top of that you have Uate, Inglis (okay, fat version, but still, Inglis), Scott, Gallen, Lewis and Thaiday amongst others. It's the nuffs nuff selections like Tony Williams, Brett Stewart and David Shillington (although, I can deal with that one) that annoy me but we still should be too good in the end.

Beau Scott shouldn't get a game.. He is rubbish, his only decent achievement is being a grub

I think the Kiwis squad is as strong, if not stronger than the Aussie one. NZ have a lot of depth at the moment considering they have 7-8 first choice players out and still have a very strong squad.
