2014 Broncos Season

You could say the same about Alfie when he played for Queensland.

Anderson has retired or gone somewhere, Whitchurch has gone to Newcastle.

The guy may look 40, but he's only about 27-28 I think. Someone will grab him or he'll play QCup where he belongs

Or he'll be packing shelves at the local Woolies. "Clean up in aisle 6. Anderson has dropped another box of mayonnaise"

Barring a catastrophe of injuries, we have the roster to walk into the top 4

This season is one where the coaching makes or breaks this great club

Definitely make or break for Griffin.
if it is break I will be interested at what stage they sack him

If we were playing absolutely shit it would probably be around the middle of the year and Kevvie would take over. If not probably at the end of the year.

Providing Kevvie is the man, as a caretaker is just a waste. Otherwise better to go the same way as the Cowboys with Henry

Can anyone think of an example where a mid-season head coaching change actually ended up being successful in the next few years?

I have seen them be successful for the remainder of the current season, but thats about it. generally when a new coach takes over it takes a couple of seasons to get the team they want (due to contracts both for players at the club and ones they want to sign from outside) that why i strongly disagree with sacking a coach in the first 2 years of their tenure (except in extraordinary circumstances), and thats probably why until Parramattas board realize you can't sack a coach every year if you don't get the results, they will continue to stay on the bottom of the table

I agree totally that the coaching will make or break, but i don't think we have to roster to walk into the 4 unless we pick up quality halves between now and next season. I personally think it will be Griffins last season, which is one season too many for mine.

What's Shane Perry doing these days?

Jason Taylor did great as Parramatta's caretaker coach in 2006 the team was in a mess at the bottom and under him they regrouped and made the finals in 8th place. That's the best a caretaker coach has achieved most are just there to fill in the space till the end of the season.

I'll raise you a Freddy Fittler. He took over the Roosters when they were in tatters from memory, the week after he was named coach they beat the Storm. Pretty sure they ended up making the 8 that year as well. Could be wrong.
