Does anyone know how the boys are going?
Good job I really want to see them play a full 80 minute game. Any stand outs?
No match reports which is pretty poor when you think about it, but is basically the norm for the Holden Cup at this point. In a year's time it isn't going to matter anyways, but this is what we do know.
BRISBANE BRONCOS 26 (Kellermeyer 2, Haas, Su'A, Elliott tries; Burns 3/5 goals) def. CANTERBURY-BANKSTOWN BULLDOGS 12 (Okunbor, Keighran tries; Keighran 2/2 goals)
Carrigan was a work-a-holic. He played the entire game, carted the ball up 27 times made 284m with 36 tackles, 2 offloads and 9 tackle-breaks. When Arrow moved up, it seemed like the Broncos would struggle to replace one of the best middle forwards in the game but Patty has stepped in and really asserted himself as not only one of the Broncos best, but one of the best middle forwards in the competition.
Haas is just something else. 49 minutes and he just terrorised the Bulldogs through the middle. I'm not sure when he'll be ready, but he's one of those NYC prospects you know is going to play first grade and you just go out to the NYC so you can boast you saw him there. And hey that may sound crazy but I basically did that for Taumalolo in 2010 and he wasn't even playing for my team! I just rememebr the stories about this 16 year old who was going to dominate the 20s and they weren't wrong, in fact by part-way through that year he'd already played NRL.
Also looks like Su'A played as well as you'd expect. I don't know though, 19 tackles 3 missed doesn't really fill me with a lot of confidence especially since his defence was probably his biggest concern in first grade. He's got a ton of skill and the fact he's the youngest Broncos starting backrow speaks volumes but I'd like to see him play up a grade and in the team otherwise I fear he's just going to grow complacent, picking up bad habits playing to a certain standard rather than learning new tricks by playing against a better standard.
Tough game this week against the defending premiers. Last time these two teams met, it looked like Sydney were going to run over the top of the Broncos until some last minute heroics by Allan salvaged a draw. I do like the look of this 20s team though and think there's a few NRL prospects worth watching.
Can someone post the 20's side.
