In fact, he really does seem too willing to risk low-percentage, high-skill plays, so he needs a bit of maturity too.
To be fair, they pretty much always work.

Yeah I take your point about glen and Boyd covering centre. It just seems to me that Glenn's days at centre are just about over, even as a stop gap. He seems to get more easily targeted and caught out as a centre now with good attacking sides. I'm still of the opinion, when fit glenn plays his best football starting. You definitely got a point with Boyd though. It just seems so unlikely that Boyd would ever get moved out, given how we rely on him for setting structure in defence, that I forget he can play centre. He was pretty good there when he played for us before.Well, I can't say I hate it. @Thelmus, if a centre goes down we can easily put Glenn there. He's an excellent stop gap. More complicated would be Nikorima to fullback and Boyd to centre.
Only a couple of small rebuttals, but they're only minor:
* Sims may not have the mobility to play on the edge. He's played a fair bit there for the Knights, but I didn't see enough to recall how successful he was there. Better workrate of course, but bigger minutes too. On the plus side, if he could get his positioning right, and communicate with Milford well, he's be a bloody handy bodyguard for him. No one likes running at Sims. The tackles he makes he has to go and find them.
* I'm on the "TPJ needs more fitness before he can start" train. In fact, he really does seem too willing to risk low-percentage, high-skill plays, so he needs a bit of maturity too. We really could have done with Arrow this year. I will say that I was very surprised how much of a difference there was in 2017 TPJ, Offa and HE'E compared to the 2016 versions. If there's a similar amount of improvement, maybe the off-season will be enough to get TPJ There.
I'm with you with Bird at left centre. If it's his best position, why not?

I think anything is possible with a good off season at the Broncos. Other reason I chose TPJ at lock was just tactical. I think we should follow Paul Green's tactics and start with our most damaging props and locks. I think size is important to start the game with. Don't want to be on the back foot to start. If we started with our middle 3 being McGuire, Bird and Sims we'd be nowhere near as intimidating through the middle. We need to show more trust in our young talent. Even if TPJ isn't ready to start at lock yet, throw him in there now and that's the best way to get him ready.
Fair enough. We have to remember too that Taumalolo was a monster in the lower grades but took 5 or so years in the top grade to reach where he has. I remember even just a couple of years ago, when the Cowboys had their biggest test to retain him, there was a fair bit of opinion out there that he was getting paid on potential. He'd had dominant games, but was still quite erratic, and didn't have the motor that he does now. History shows that the Cows were right to spend that money on him, but even if TPJ follows suit we'd be looking at the equivalent of 2020 - 2021 before we see his best.
I'd say he's only been next level for the last 1.5 seasons.I think a lot of Taumalolo's struggle was with the coach Niel Henry. As soon as Paul Green came, he went to the next level.

Prior to that he was very inconsistent sometimes having barn stormers others more going through the motions

Didn't know where to put this but stuff this is a awesome try
Maranta was on the end of so many of our best tries ever.
That step from Hoffman in that try was awesome by the wayWe’ll be looking at some of these names in a few years, thinking what a time to be alive.
Hoffman, Wallace, Maranta.

The forward pass to Reed not so, but they let it through!
