2018 NRL Side

So the only quote we have relating to the move is "At some point next year, I will be pushed up into the front row and I’m happy to cover whatever position it is in my last year."

That doesn't sound like he'll be starting at prop next season, at least to start with.

no difference from the report about Oates moving from the wing, we only have him saying he wants to

I would have preferred him to say something along the lines of "I want my Origin spot back and I'm going to train the house down and give %100 to try and make it happen".

Not:

“If Origin comes it comes. Look, I’d love to play for Queensland again and it’s always an exciting time of the year, so if the opportunity comes, I’ll take it with two hands."

And The (I'm done, the body is shot) bit is no good either. If your done your done son, move on.

From the various reports that have been going around I think that teams looks the most likely.

FWIW I hope Isaako trains the house down and gets that wing spot. He looked very keen on the physical side of things last year albeit 1 game.... but it could indicate he has a high workload, which is what we want if Oates moves out of the back line. If so he could be a mansour type winger for us

I think Isaako is nowhere near good enough at fullback to be an NRL player there, but as a winger i'm all for it. HE also gives us another real quality kicking option.

What people are also overlooking is Bird wont be playing centre early on due to his injury, he isnt going to be available for about a month so i would say either Kahu or Opacic will be our starting left centre. If they are performing well, i dont see Bennett moving them tbh. If Kodi doesnt start well, he could be the one making way for Bird.

If Bird is still out, then barring injury you'd have to say Opacic will be there.

Wouldnt surprise me if KAhu moved and we bought in Mead or one of the younger guys.

We've cursed the poor bugger. As soon as we do that he gets injured. Again. He's just as valuable on the wing, and the Broncos don't have his death on their conscience.

Off the top of my head I think the season would start like this. I even did up what our reserve grade team would look like if we had a proper one
Broncos
1 Boyd
2 Mead
3 Roberts
4 Bird
5 Kahu
6 Milford
7 Nikorima
8 Lodge
9 McCullough
10 Sims
11 Glenn
12 Gillett
13 McGuire
14 Oates
15 Ofahengaue
16 Thaiday
17 Pangai Jr.

2018 Toowoomba Clydesdales
1 Corey Allan
2 Jamayne Isaako
3 Kotoni Staggs
4 Tom Opacic
5 Jonus Pearson
6 Shaun Nona
7 Troy Dargan
8 Payne Haas
9 Jake Turpin
10 Andre Savelio
11 Jaydn Sua
12 Salesi Funaki
13 Patrick Carrigan
14 Myles Taueli
15 Patrick Mago
16 David Fifita
17 George Fai

18 Gehamat Shibisaki
19 Tanah Boyd
20 Thomas Flegler

Thaiday will be lucky to be in the top 17 if our players stay fit and continue to improve. You have to fit him into a pack of Moose, Gillett, Glenn, Sims, Joffa, TPJ, Lodge and potentially Oates + Bird, particularly if the latter plays lock.

I don’t wish it on him, and I doubt it’ll happen, but Sam may not have the ideal end to his career he wants, and in all fairness, deserves.

Can you list what you think the origin teams will be as well?

And The (I'm done, the body is shot) bit is no good either. If your done your done son, move on.

That quote is ominous. He is hanging on for one last season of NRL pay. I doubt he sees out the season to be honest.

I think too much is being read into that quote tbh. Dont see him as hanging on. He doesnt suffer from injuries that much, he probably just knows its harder to recover from games and doesnt want to push his body after this season. SOme blokes carry on too long, i think Sammy finishing up when he is is the right choice. Yes his form has declined, but he has never lacked any effort or passion in playing for us.

I feel sorry for Sam having to answer questions about playing Origin next year. He'd know it's over.
