2018 NRL Side

Looking at some of the off season recruiting done by other teams and there’s some serious squads on paper next year. Our big name players who are chewing up the most money really really need to earn their keep this year. Particularly when you consider guys like milf, Boyd and bird are our top paid players and compare that with other squads top name players such as Cronk, smith, Thurston and even Moloney I’d say based off last years form we are quiet a way off the eight ball if our guys don’t go up a level.

One area I think we are comfortable in is our “mid range” guys such as alex Glenn and Jordan Kahu who turn up week in week out and just do there job. If you compare those types of players with similar types from other squads I think they are pretty on par. It’s really our “star” players who will determine how successful we are this year.
Reckon the key to our big names firing lies with Lodge. If Lodge is the forward I'm hoping he is the other forwards will feed of him. Milf, Niko, Roberts and Bird will have a field day behind a big mobile pack.
our "stars" will shine when we've got the defence on the back foot.

It's time for milf to step up. Can't believe he's been at the broncos for 3 years already!

JORDAN Kahu is looking forward to Christmas with his family but knows the good turn it will bring for him once he returns from that break.
Kahu will head back to Kiwi capital Wellington with his partner and two children for the holidays after missing the Rugby League World Cup with New Zealand because of surgery.
Kahu went under the knife for both a groin and knee problem straight after the 2017 season.
He carried the groin problem through the back half of the season, while the knee issue was a simple clean out.
But after going through some rehabilitation, he should be ready to join the main group when the team returns from the Christmas break.
“I have been pretty cruisy – I have been in the rehab group,” said Kahu.
“It has been tough but it hasn’t been too strenuous.
“I am hoping I can jump in with the main group straight after Christmas.”

I’ve read that we have re-signed outside back Marion Seve. If given the opportunity could he possibly take Oates wing position if he moves into the forwards.

Where have you read that?

No-one is taking Oates wing position any time soon

Big year for Seve. He hasnt been close to cracking first grade even when we have had injuries.

Yep, he has signed another level 2 contract. It may be his last unless he miraculously plays first grade this year.

He was meant to be a kid with real future hopefully he shows us next year.

Define soon. I think it depends very much on pre-season and maybe a signing or 2.

Seems like all our signings except for bird are just depth signings. The only spot that isn't really locked in is the half back spot. It's kniks for now but he won't keep it if he doesn't perform.

Who replaces him though? Bird+Milf switch to 7? Dargan? Maybe a Cullen if we get him back on the books? We currently don’t have a Benji signing this year.

I'd like to see someone who is a genuine half back get a chance. Be it dargan or who ever else we have in the system.

How long will Kodi be given ?
4 weeks , 8 weeks ?

Its only a matter of time before he shits the bed
Just look at the storm game.

I know we give Milf shit ( some warranted ) but take into account he could have decided to have surgery right after his injury , but continued to play and could have cost us a spot in the top 4.

Who is there in the side that can come in ?

I really would be talking to Nathan Cleary , give him what he wants tbh.
He is going to be a Star it isnt funny.

This allows him to take over GK and kahu moves to centre and takes his game to the next level.

Can the broncos afford cleary though? Every club will be throwing big bucks at him.

I'd say kodi will be given the half back role until he shits the bed badly. I guess the trials will be really important this season
