2019 Broncos Line-up

If Nikorima has not performed after say round 8-10 who do we think gets first shot?
Dearden
O’Sullivan
T Boyd
Dargan
Paix

I'd be surprised to see Niko given the flick so soon and definitely not if he plays at last years level, which was okish, without setting the world alight. Seibold has already partly blamed our slow play the ball on why our halves are so hot and cold, he also seems like a coach who would back himself to improve and develop a player.

I'm not sure his attitude would be, 'Sorry Kodi, I've tried my best but if I can't fix you in 8 weeks, I'm never going to.' I think he'd have to have totally lost confidence and be really shitting the bed in order to get dropped.

I don't think Seibold would put up with the lack of defensive capability of Nikorima. He may as well stood on the sideline in defence last year.

I'd say O'Sullivan looks like he's next in line but I don't think he neccessarily should be.

Personally I'd like to see Boyd get a shot. Deardon in the next couple of years. I think those two together as a halves combo would be incredible.

Based on everything I've seen and heard I'd say Boyd is on the bottom of the list right now.

My take on the current halves pecking order -

Milford
Nikorima
Dearden
O'Sullivan
Dargan
Paix
Boyd

I think you're being a bit harsh. The whole team sucked in defence last year, I don't remember him being any worse than Milford. We were also lacking Gillette on that side of the field.....then Sua got injured and we were playing a rookie teenage on his edge. Roberts didn't help with some of his decision at centre either. I don't think it can be laid at Niko's feet.

I thought Niko did pretty well defensively for the most part and his stats will back that up. Sure, he had a couple shockers (he wasn't alone) but for a guy who is 5'5 and 160 lbs, he more than held his own and he was actually one of the team leaders in one on one tackles.

Alex Glenn missed more tackles with a total of 69

He was a lot worse than Milford.

Personally reckon Kodi is in for a big year. Have been watching some of last years highlights and he has some very nice touches. Just needs to do it more often.

I think Fifita was actually better defensively than Su'A was.

Last year he did a lot on his own as our attack was so disjointed. If Seibs can get the backline humming like he did with the rabbits, i'm super excited to see what Kodi can do with Gillette/Fifita and Roberts/Isaako with everyone in motion. Setup plays for others in the first few rounds and watch defenders start slipping off him and as we know, he doesn't need much of a gap......because there's not much of him.

I'd say Paix is above Dargan, but other than that I think thats probably the current pecking order.

I think he will definitely be better than he was last year, but I still am hoping that one of the young halves can kill it in Q Cup and push him out of the spot.

I was always a fan of Kodi going to 7 and I'm still a fan. I think he cops way too much flak. The onus is on Milford to run the team, he's the million dollar marquee player, not our budget dwarf 7.

Milford is basically playing as a defacto halfback anyway, he's handling the kicking and game organisation while Niko plays like a 5/8 which is a role he suits perfectly. If a young gun can play out of their skins and demand selection, great, but Niko has done more than enough to be first choice for a while yet.

More than enough?.. Nah

Just enough?.. Yeah

If he strings together a month of average performances and a Dearden or O'Sullivan is carving up ISC, he's gorrrrnnnnnnnn.

I agree. Nikorima could end up as our best performing half this year. I feel like he will respond to Seibold's coaching and he'll have his mind set on doing the little things right. I feel like Nikorima is better than Milford at incorporating the players around him into his game plan. I think we should see some nice Nikorima short balls to Fifita on the right edge, who will make a great decoy too for Roberts to receive the ball out the back.
