Reckon Wayne has been watching games this season thinking about which players he'll pick for Origin?

I take your point and I didn't realise there was such a big break, I just don't see why KW didn't keep the role for this series.

I reckon Kevvie will have plenty of input with Bennett about the team he selects this season, they appear to be back on good terms. (Walters recommend Bennett replaced him as QLD coach and Bennett said Walters deserves to be Broncos coach)

They'll re-asses after this series and figure out who's the best long-term option.

Walters has a big job on his hands, he doesn't have time to worry about Origin for a month while trying to organise our pre-season.

Bennett is a 30 year coach who's done everything in the game, he can handle the workload and can delegate at Souths. It's not about not rating Walters, but he's just got a huge job he has to take care of which will be stressful enough, it's hard to do both well.

firstly, they didn't tell Walters he must stand down, in fact they were adamant they wanted Walters to coach this series, to the point of even contacting the Broncos to work out a compromise

Walters choose to resign, due to the workload he has with us. it's not like he has his coaching team in place and can just delegate to them.

Given Lomax has missed the squad, Staggs and Latrell are injured and Morris isn't available, I think the obvious option has to be Campbell Graham.

Crichton and Best could be alternatives.

if he isn't he'd probably have to isolate for 2 weeks first.

the CM was reporting that the Broncos and Titans have to self isolate at home for 2 weeks now their season is over and they are getting spot checked by police

Is that not the situation? QRL said early on Walters, even though he has been planning all year, won't be allowed to coach origin if he signs an NRL deal. But Bennett is allowed to?

I think the QRL have said that Bennett is basically just an interim coach due to time constraints and they will go searching for Walters replacement after this series. With Bennett there's the luxury of him having an able assistant to pick up the slack, whereas Walters has no staff at the moment. There's also the pure experience factor.

Given QLD is going to lose anyway I think Green would have made far more sense as interim coach for this series

Bennett is also involved with QAS and the camps since 2001. He knows how the whole thing runs from start to game.

As I said before, it's not the situation... the QRL were very clear about this ... even if Walters got the Broncos job, they wanted him for this series.

Next year, they would look for a replacement, which is unlikely to be any head coach of an NRL team.

I like having Bennett coach this series, good decision imo.

QLD are going to have one of the worst centre pairings we've ever seen and I've got more confidence in Bennett countering that anyone else, among other things.

Maybe they are giving Bennett 1 year as QLD coach because he is in his way to the Broncos next year as director....
