This is the off season. We're talking about getting our roster ready for next season. How the **** did this bunch of useless ***** put us in a position where Billy fucking Walters is our answer at dummy half? I mean, really who is responsible for this woeful situation that you are asking us to accept because it's just the way it goes? Does Billy fucking Walters father have any say in any of this?

Why does this make you so angry? Chill, dude.

I don't get your point. Which part of what I said did you disagree with?

Croft, Dearden and Milford were clearly all in the elite class.

Croft: Captain Junior Kangaroos, ESL Man of Steel.
Dearden: State of Origin winning halfback, Peter Sterling Medalist.
Milford: highest paid Bronco of all time.

Billy was struggling to get an NRL game but wanted to quit his Tigers contract and come to Brisbane to play 6 under his old man.

Is the issue whether Kevvie planned to pair his son with Adam Reynolds as the first choice 6 by clearing out all the competition? Neither of us know that for certain, but it looks that way.

I'm really sorry, but this really is a horrible attempt at justification. Neither of those three players you mention could possibly have been considered elite, at least at the time that we were discussing:

The Storm put up very little resistance to letting Croft go, in fact any resistance would have been purely to make us pay more that we had to. He did very little in the Broncos jersey and I don't know of anyone who was concerned when he left us early. Captaining the Junior Kangaroos and winning the Man Of Steel puts him amongst fellow elite such as Ben Jones, Mitch Cornish, Michael Lichaa, Jackson Hastings, Rangi Chase, and Zac Hardaker. Esteemed.

Dearden demanded, and was given, an opportunity to prove himself as a starting half, and utterly bombed. He'd shown glimpses of spark during a few short cameos, and had of course performed well in the lower grades. but when handed the reins he broke every Broncos' fans hearts. It wasn't just a consequence of the Broncos being poor either, it became a meme how many games the Cowboys lost in a row when he joined them. He might be showing some of his potential now, but he gave no reasons to retain him at the time he demanded a shot, and was too impatient to develop further and wait until he was ready to get a crack starting in the halves. It was pretty well known at the time that the Broncos wanted to wait another year before giving him a proper crack, something that they will hopefully stay strong on when it comes to Mozer (and that there is your hint on why Walters has been retained in the short term).

And Milford? 2015, yep, first half of 2016, sure. He was elite. He was given a $1 million ** contract based on previous form, and due to the fact that the Storm supposedly showed interest and made the Broncos bid high. He declined rapidly, on the back of showing zero motivation, an unwillingness to learn or develop, and a lack of self discipline that saw an "elite" sportsperson refuse to give up cigarettes or other unhealthy habits that would absolutely limit his ability to perform. The Broncos were correct to not offer him a new contract, a decision vindicated by his similarly heartless displays for the Knights.

For someone to claim that any of those three were "elite", or even "above average" at the time they left the Broncos, is either a judgement clouded with crippling bias, or a disingenuous argument attempted to drum up outrage. They were absolute plodders in the case of Croft, and deadset liabilities in the cases of Dearden and Milford. How anyone can possibly be convinced of the ridiculous notion that these three were victims of an agenda to remove any obstacles to Billy Fucking Walters becoming a regular member of the Broncos 17 is a sad indictment on the supposed intelligence inherent in humans.

Yet there we were with Billy fucking Walters - the butt of everyone's jokes when it was first rumoured his father would be poaching him from the Tigers - donning the number 6 jersey in round one of 2022.

You can spin the other three any way you like. You can blame the player, the club, the coaches, whatever you choose. But they all came to us hopeful and left broken. And the coach's son, well he just got extended.

And just quietly, how did our spine look at the end of the season?

Round 1 was injury cover, yeah? Reyno is fit, Billy likely doesn't play in the halves. Fairly well demonstrated by the fact that the following week, Reyno came back and he was not in the halves. And, if I recall, he played well enough that fist week that there was a genuine question of whether Albie or Billy would be the one to be dropped.

Not a very successful conspiracy if everything was geared towards opening up a halves spot that he was only in for a single round...

Or, the more likely scenario that our "top-line" halves were dogshit, and rightly shown the door, the halves that remained to partner Reynolds were an unknown (TMM) or injury-prone fringe first-graders, and our hookers were not much better. In the case of hooker, we at least have a very promising young player coming through, and supposedly little in the way of spare cap space to spend, so a dependable, cheap, loyal, and hard-working utility would make sense. There are zero reports of rumours that he is on anything much above minimum wage, he is a low-maintenance, club-focused player, and will play wherever he is asked, and will give his all in that position. You're trying to make this a negative, citing nepotism, because (well who fucking knows), when in reality, we have a player here who is willing to bleed for the coach and club and push his limited talents as far as possible, which is far more than you'd be able to expect from a stocko journeyman.

Does that leave us a top-line hooker or half short until Mozer is ready? Maybe, but the question remains on who we could have legitimately targeted, who would have been a realistic chance, and who would have suited what we needed? The options look pretty barren.

He handled the ball more than any other player last season. We didn't make the 8. I don't care whether he was cheap. We got what we paid for.

If all three are out I'll take it.
Are you trying to trick me into taking a wager against you that I am offering but with even shorter odds against me?

Im not making that bet with you haha.
