For me playing 14 or 9, the bare minimum should be the ability to tackle effectively, forget all the fancy shit, if you can't tackle you won't make it.

I know there are a select few who would give any bloke that wasn't named Billy Walters a crack at the jersey but yeah, you have to be able to tackle. I am fully aware he missed a lot of tackles himself but he is the best we've got (and so the roundabout continues).
Probably add to that be able to pass from the ground and get it close to hitting the chest

there’s a reason he’s the best we’ve got. Wink.

Not sure anyone has argued Billy isn’t our current best option or at least a reasonable choice - the issues a select few have is exactly that, Billy Walters has somehow become our best option.

Regardless, I’m hanging all my hopes on Mozer stepping up mid year and putting the entire debate to bed anyway so need to continue with it.

I am suggesting the position we are/were in with our cap played a key role in that.

Not really though, it's totally okay to state your position and agree to disagree. This argument is tiresome.

Ultimately, only time will tell, circular arguments are futile.

It would be a much more constructive discussion if those with the view of nepotism were willing to engage in a realistic solution. However, that hasn't happened.

We’ve agreed to disagree 50 times by now but people keep bringing it up and misrepresenting the position of those who find the hooking position problematic.

If people stop referring to a “they” who hold a position that no one actually holds the debate would die. However I will continue to point it out when people make snide comments about an unnamed group of posters with Billy Walters opinions that no one actually has.

It’s like when right wing Americans create made up scenarios to get mad at snowflakes about things no one actually said or believes.

Why don’t we just ban posts that unnecessarily allude to Billy Walters without adding any legitimate discussion points - like the completely pointless post by broncos fever that mentioned Billy for no reason when someone was talking about Tesi.

Tesi is mentioned because he's not Billy. Billy does a good job, the best job of what we have available (even you conceded that). Yes, he missed tackles. Guess what? They all did.

Nothing about Tesi Niu indicates he would be a good 14, just because he can run well doesn't make him a good option. In fact the very reason many shot him down last season was because of his defense, on what planet is it a good idea to throw him in the middle? Like I said at the time, it's not the NFL, you can't sub him off when it's time to tackle.

Even I couldn’t be bothered anymore. You obviously have no interest in comprehending the actual comments regarding Billy and would prefer to just make pointless throw away comments about him.

I will say I am in complete agreeable regarding Tesi though. He isn’t good enough for any position but especially dummy half.

In regards to the new salary cap, I would like to see management keep a good amount aside like 300k which can be used as a bonus reward for the top 3 players. Eg. Hass get 150k, Mam gets 100k and Walsh gets 50k for being top performers on top of their contracts.
