2023 State of Origin Discussion

Probably the best team they could pick. Oates would have been in over Taulagi if he was fit. Glad they didn't pick Coates.

NSW forward pack isn't exactly killing it. Frizzell and Young is strange. TPJ lol. Young played better in prior years than he is this year. Frizzell also is a big liability at that level.

How stupid does The Dolphins look in this scenario hey.
thought the same thing. Completely Devo'd we lose Walsh. 5 Broncos out, 6 if you include Capewell because apparently he's injured. QLD probably still have the better team. TPJ in the forwards and opting for Turbo over Campbell Graham is dumb. Anyone know why Coates wasnt selected? It feels unfair that the Storm only lose two players to Origin despite being a QLD team..

Gagai has been given a bath all year. Connor Tracey ran around him a few times this weekend. His yardage work has slowly deteriorated also. Think they are getting out at the right time.

I hope Capewell getting dropped is a kick up the ass he needs to turn his game around. He's been down considerably on form and wasn't deserving of a spot in origin.

I think it was more a case of him being injured.

Slater has lost the plot with this team. Make these kind of calls if you lose game 1. Gagai and ponga have proven to be origin stars. Even flegler starting is crazy to me. He's better off the bench and not that hes in bad form but there are still half a dozen middles in better form.

My guess is if qld lose this game, half these guys will be made scapegoats. This feels nsw-like to me...

I completely understand the Ponga situation tbh. Gagai though....how many times has he not been in the best form at club level only to grow another leg for qld?

Bill just said he spoke to Ponga last night and explained it to him. He said he's very comfortable with the choice- he said he knows it's right and he's taken everything into account.

Gagai was the hardest call to make but again he knows he's got it right.

Last year is considered but your habits still have to be there the next year.

I would argue though that in most cases there was no other option than Gagai because we just don't have that depth.

I would still pick him over Tualagi though.

But Ponga would be playing 1 not 6, so that should help. I just refuse to believe they will drop the guy who won the series last year until I see it and if they have dropped him, it is just not the QLD way.
Would it help? He would be absolutely hammered every time he returned the ball from the back or tried to take on the line. The bloke is cooked.
