Walsh 100% swore at the ref. It’s as obvious as daylight. I know our season is in the balance, but his fake apology made me lose a lot of respect.

You shouldn’t talk to the ref like that, but tbh it was cathartic to watch because I was thinking the same thing. Own up to it like a man though or at the least don’t say anything at all and save your lies for the judiciary

Yup this is why I said he should get an extra week for lying like a bitch.

Just own up mate. Accountability. Will take you further than blaming everyone else.

The last 48 hours haa been a roller coaster for us Broncos fans 2 days ago we were getting the 9 we need to be a premiership heavyweight now that's gone along with our gun backrower.
Fingers crossed this Riki injury is on the lower end

Nope he didn’t, Carrigan and him were talking and when the ref send 10m he immediately went to him and said he was talking to Patty. If that was directed at the ref you don’t respond like that that quickly.

I swear Flegler has just become a sports fish for the amusement of the NRL - tag & release him every game..
I think it has something to do with his build and it looks like he's going high when he's not. Massive shoulders maybe? I swear it's an optical illusion and the refs haven't adjusted to it.

The Broncos can provide an update on forwards Jordan Riki and Thomas Flegler after both picked up foot injuries in Sunday's game against the Titans.

Both players have been ruled out of Saturday's XXXX Derby against the Dolphins after undergoing scans at the Clive Berghofer Centre Qscan facility.

Broncos Head of Performance Dave Ballard said: "Jordan has sustained a plantar fascia injury and stress reaction and we will consult a specialist this week to map out a way forward.

"Fleg has a lisfranc injury in his foot, and again we will see a specialist in coming days to decide on the best option for treatment.

"Both players will miss this weekend's game and we will take on board the medical advice before sorting out what the weeks ahead look like in terms of rehab for Jordy and Tom."

Sounds like Flegs' might be even worse. This will really be hard to overcome.

The season was going along so swimmingly, with no injuries really detailing the team and allowing combinations to form. Thankfully our spine is still in good shape, but 2nd row is so important defensively. Hopefully we can have someone step up to the mark.

I think we should expect both are gone for the season, and even if they do make it back for the finals they won't be firing on all cylinders.

Thats about the closest evidence that I took out of it when watching the footage over again. Walsh clearly demonstrates to the ref that he was talking to someone else behind them as he's marching them a further 10m.

Riki definitely the bigger loss. The decision to ease Piakura in now looks great in hindsight, and he's put together a couple of strong games. He'll need to keep that up. Capewell can't get back soon enough though.

Flegs is more easily covered by Jensen, Tapau, Hetherington (if he'd not co-opted into the second row) and Palasia. Still a loss, but not monumental.

Broncos have done lots of work on his technique, he goes down to the tackler not from up.

It gets him in trouble. He's always done it. I remember when he got sent off playing for Souths.

His build doesn't help but he has poor technique.

I wonder if we move Capewell across to the right to cover Riki.

The biggest aspect that Riki has been bringing is his kick chase and effort areas, and Capewell is all effort in that regards, so I don't think we would lose anything from that aspect.

The issue would be a loss of combinations on the left with Ezra, but he might also become more potent sitting next to Reyno. Piakura might also be a bit more of an explosive line runner for Ezra to use, but that's possibly the same for Reyno.

Both Piakura and Capewell can play on either the left or right, so I don't think that would become an issue.

Having Piakura being that replacement for Riki on the right might be useful in simplifying his game to the effort areas and having Reynolds as a voice next to him.

I think for me the key aspect will be whichever player can best replicate Riki's kick chase. Capewell will absolutely know the importance of the kick chase that Riki is providing and I'd say he could also get up there and compete in the air if it's on.

Can Piakura be relied on for that as a rookie trying to find his way in first grade ... possibly, but it is a key element of our game plan at the moment.

Perhaps we could put Piakura on the right this week as a free hit and see how he goes... if it works out then all good for when Capewell comes back, but if we lose a bit too much with Piakura being there, then at least we have Capewell's return to address it before the next game.
