2024 NRL General Discussion Thread

Probably should sue the club who doesn't want him too. Very poorly done by the Roosters but doesn't seem to be any blowback for them.

Why do you always want litigation? A club saying you can take other offers happens 10 times a year. Dragons just did it to Hunt. Is Paix going to sue the Broncos?

@Redfern_1980 who is your pick for Souths captain next year given Cam Murray is out to start the year with a long term injury.

I read a report saying Latrell Mitchell could be considered

Id said Walker considering he is vice captain. Bennett will want to keep things as simple as for Latrell next year I reckon so he doesnt have any outside distractions.

Good question mate. It better not be Fatrell Mitchell, I will literally consider joining your forum fulltime if that is the case lol.

I really don't know, Cam better not be out for too long hopefully. It is pretty thin stocks to he honest. Cody is one match away at all times from losing his head. It's gotta be Wighton I think. He is the most logical choice for me. Always good for a brain fade here and there, but he is usually all 100% effort at least and provides a bit of leadership to the blokes.

God almighty I just checked the predicted team list for round one. Wayne is gonna need to be the true messiah to get this lot into anywhere close to the finals. We might have to snatch Benny Hunt from yas to have a slither of hope 🤪

The Courier mail is reporting that Vlandys has worked out a deal with the PNG Government where Australian players / staff going to the club won't pay any tax. the CM referred to it as the 'Danger Money' deal.

that effectively means the PNG club effectively have a 45% higher salary cap than the rest of the comp

How has the ATO signed off on this?

Aren't they basing mostly out of Cairns or are they now sending them to Port Moresby??

I think they changed the model and no longer plan to base the club out of Cairns.

If they're based in Port Moresby, the ATO / Australian Government probably have no say in tax arrangements. It would be similar to the NZ based players, who i assume are taxed based on the NZ tax system, not the Aus tax system.
