2024 NRL General Discussion Thread

I know a guy who's a geologist...kind of part time? It's a long story but he used to do it full time and would get jobs in PNG for a set period of time. Some of the stories he tells are real eye openers. Life was basically meaningless in some of the areas that he worked.
Yep, that's about the size of it.
The question is were you a professional rugby league player when you were living there.

These guys are going to be treated by the PNG public, like the Indians treat their cricketers ... i.e. like gods.

I have zero doubt that they'll be perfectly safe over there. Besides the reporting is that they'll be developing a fully secure compound for the team / staffers to live ... and you can bet your bottom dollar, this compound will be a combination of a regular town and a 5 star resort, they'll have all the amenities they could ever need

Not quite .

I'm curious - are you basing your comments on experience from living/working in PNG or countries similar to it?

It's exciting - brings millions of passionate supporters and continues to expand the game. They'll figure out the safety, and its not like games haven't been played there before.

Hope they use a lot of their local talent too. Get Bennet to set it up, so they come in somewhat competitive.
Its not game day safety thats the problem. Its overall safety from day to day. Its still a third world country with alot of third world problems

Yea I get that, but I'm sure they can afford the facilities/security to make it work. Every 3rd world country has their livable areas too. Eventually recruiting more locally will help as well.

Pezet rejected the knights 2.5m over 4 years deal to re sign with the storm for 4 more years. FMD, they aren't even trying to hide this shit now

Firstly how much did he re-sign for, I have only seen the Knights offer reported. Because that really is the key to determine if we should be outraged or not

Secondly, he did get the Storm to agree to include a get out clause in his contract ... Allowing him to leave if Hughes signs another contract with the Storm

I would stay instead of going to the fucking Knights, as well.

Even if he won’t play first grade as much there, he’ll get a better education there.

Knights are a basket case.
