2024 NRL Player Movements & Rumours

I would easily put him in front of SOS. Katoa is still only 20. He is going to be in the team, but with Hunt there they have the option to rest him, or play him alongside Hunt if they make Kodi a 14. The other option is JMK does get injured a fair bit so Hunt or Kodi could end up spending a fair bit of time at 9 as well. Good teams have these kind of options available.

Just because SOS had a good game against us and Reynolds didnt have a good year doesnt mean anything really. SOS is as bang average as you can get. He's a bit part player, thats all he ever has been througout his career. The Dolphins Jock Madden. Reynolds is what he is, a good quality 7 coming to the end of his career who gets injured a bit too much these days. I'd still take him over O'Sullivan.

Are you sure you are not confusing Rep player Hunt to NRL comp Hunt ?
I have watched him a fair bit . I don`t think he surpasses either SoS or Katoa .

Also he has said repeatedly he doesn`t want to play #9 or #14 .

Hunt surpassed SOS easily IMO.......

A better argument can be made with Katoa because of his future potential.

I'd be surprised if Hunt stays in Sydney.

He's been outspoken about returning to Queensland.

Not confusing him at all. Until the end of the year, he was playing perfectly well. Kotoa's form fell off a cliff as well in the last 4 or 5 games of the year as well, and he got dropped. SOS couldnt break into the Dolphins side for the majority of the year. Katoa is 20, he's going to have ups and downs but he will be their 7. SOS is as bang average as you can get.

And also as i said, its about having options. Hunt is a better option than Milford, SOS or Averillo in the halves. He's a good option to fill in at 9 or 14 if he is needed to.

He has never said he wouldnt play 9 either, he said he prefers 7 but if its best for the team to play 9, he will play 9.

Lets not forget, hes going to be 35 in the first month of next season. He would know he probably isnt going to any team and being the main man anymore.

You do have to ask though, with The signing Saifiti, extending almost everyone including some big ones in Katoa, Hammer, etc plus still having Flegs' salary on their books, how do they offer Hunt more than even we can?

I dont think Hunts value is going to be anywhere near this million he is on now. He will be 35 just after next season kicks off. Common sense should dictate hes not looking at massive money anymore.

But again, how can The afford him and not us? They also have some pretty big contracts:
- Flegler
- Farnworth
- Saifiti
- Hammer
- Katoa
- Kaufusi
- Gilbert
- Funifeiuaki
- Isaako (upgraded)
- Marshall-King

All these guys are on decent to huge salaries.

Saifiti would be subsidised from what i understand. Thats what delayed the deal as he dug his heels in.

Losing Bromwich would offset a few of the upgrades, and iirc they front ended a few of their first year contracts which might give them a bit of leeway as well.

I do agree though, they cant have much to play with, but they seem pretty confident they have a decent amount of space in their cap so who knows.

I'm surprised more clubs don't say this, i.e ours. Like the NRL ever checks the cap, just say you've got money and the NRL will believe you.
