2024 State of Origin - Game III Discussion

Cobbo needed to be on the left and Gagai was far too ball hoggy that game but to be fair I don't know our other options QLD lack starter Depth to NSW.
Why? He played for 2 years that side for us

That game, and series shows how hard it is with a depleted forward pack. Tino, Gilbert, Flegler hugely missed just to name a few. The non selection of Fifita a mistake surely.

Reminds of Broncos this year really. Lost the forward and yardage battle unfortunately.

NSW too good over 3.

He is far better on the left to use his right fend and Gagai was gate keeping all ball to the wing.

Cobbo needed to be with Hammer our two most dangerous outside backs.

I'm getting Raul Jimenez vibes from Walshy. After that **** from Arsenal assaulted Raul and fractured his skull he was never the same player. Hoping this isnt the same from Reece, but he certainly looks like he has a little fear of whats coming to hit him he never used to have.
He just hasn't had game time unfortunately. I think he'll be back.

He needs to reinvent his game or needs a coach to mentor him full time. He isn’t elite level and he’s been found out by all the good teams.
He doesn't run it enough... he's very predictable at the moment.

Ponga gets it squares up his man and then puts a step on and goes past them... or draws in the centre and dumps it off.

Walsh gets it full burst running sideways and then keeps running sideways until eventually dumping it off.

Rorters were the ones that showed you can just slide on Walsh until he runs out of room, because he chews up all the space for his centre and runs out of room or just dumps it off.

He really needs to start running the ball whenever the defence slides on him.

Hammer was wrecked for at least 40 minutes. No miracles happening there.

Once he runs out of room he either passes to the ground, falls over or gets smashed after the dump off. None of that happens when he runs. He should be running in the middle around the forwards.

I think Gagai and Holmes have shown its wing or nothing for them. We really lack decent centers. We just need to get a couple who just do their jobs and dont look for anything flash.
Qld desperately need Cobbo to become an elite centre... probably hasn't helped getting picked in and out of origin this series... and then some chopping and changing in and out at club land as well.

They should just simplify it... if the defence is sliding run... if the defence jams in the winger is open or cut in like he did against Penrith.

Jamming in on Walsh is actually more dangerous than just sliding on him
