Well the inevitable showdown between Paix and Walters is upon us. A bit of a race to the bottom, probably. I can't see either of them walking into the starting line-up of any other NRL team. Neither are terrible, but both have their detractors.
If Paix is chosen over Walters it will certainly get some tongues wagging.

They may have selected their target to vulture... although it is Mole so he's probably more likely to pop up in the NFL draft than a storm jersey

If Walters is chosen over Paix, the usual tongues will be wagging anyway, so nothing different there regardless, just depends which way usual tongues will be pointing.

Dunno, it won't be very controversial if he sticks with Billy at 9. He's the most experienced. Just as it wouldn't have been massively controversial if Mozer was elevated to 9.
Paix got banished for mysterious reasons, and then wouldn't give up his contract. Now the barrier standing in his way has gone. We've seen this movie before.

What does Tongue have to do with this? He retired from NRL over a decade ago, I don’t think the ex-Raiders hooker is part of the equation here

Paix is in the rehab group with a strained calf ATM .
So at a disadvantage in that Smoothy will play 2 trials and probably Billy this one and the next . To give him a run at #9 .

Shame about Mozer, I really think with consistent game time, this could be his year. Fingers crossed he heals up nicely.
On a side note, I had a dream last night that we went all the way. The sadness I felt upon waking was immense. I am so ready for this season to start.

Yeah it sounds like the type of injury that derailed Milford in back to back years.if that's the case, he could be out for weeks, depending on the severity.
The more I read about Mozer, the less confident I am this will be his year:

Both times he picked it up about mid-year, played through it and then shoulder surgery in the off season.
It was around the time we lost Bhunt, so Milf missed two crucial preseasons where he would've basically been transitioning to be the halfback.
I think Cleary keeps getting these as well
Might be a little easier to "hide" it on the edge, but would be tough for a smaller guy defending in the middle all game
