6 Broncos matches free to air in 3 months? 21 Mar - 20 June?

I remember when you could catch late night replays on 9 on Saturday nights etc.

Good to see admin looking after the interests of the game - where disadvantaged groups need to cough up just to follow a single team in one of league's biggest markets.

Look at what happened to the Brisbane Bullets after the NBL went to pay tv. How have the Bullets been traveling these past few years?

Fuckers can stick your pay tv and pay streaming rights up your arse. Real fans aren't made of money or have swish internet.

Also keep jacking up ticket prices fuckers. Better to have 50% full of suits and latte sippers paying 3 times the price?

Fuckers.

You should post this thread on LU, it would be great viewing.

i'd watch every broncos game on foxtel if i could. ch 9 is pathetic. hoping the next tv deal is similar to the afl one where foxtel has the rights for every game.

I have the paid streaming through the NRL and swish internet, and it's shite. The stream bogs down and the quality is so poor I'd get a better view of the game in Canberra sitting on my roof in Brisbane with a telescope. Still beats giving the entire contents of my wallet to Roop The Elder though.

So lets break this down for you

6 FTA games in 3 months equates to 12 possible games we could play in the 3 months. Now we have 2 byes in there with that so we are getting 6 FTA gaout of a possible 10 games. Next, some of our non televised games are on weeks after we play origin which gives our origin players more of a chance to rest up before their NRL game. Thus overall, as a club we are better with some games that aren't on tv (especially Friday night during origin) because our players have longer to back up. And if you cant afford pay tv or live streams, do what every other person does and go and watch at the pub/club for free.

Channel 9 should be forced to play ALL games live. And ANY game that isn't live, should be on Foxtel. Simple. They have other digital channels for a reason, they should use them.

If not, they should forgo the rights to a station who gives a ****. If that means Foxtel, well so be it. I can afford it, so that's where I want all my sport, so **** your free to air cheap crap. Better commentary, better quality, less adds.

lol, really a case of "first world problems" here ... Six games in three months is bad? Spare a thought for every other team in the NRL that isn't the Bulldogs, Roosters or Souths... Canberra fans can only dream about having six games in three months.

Broncos fans are spoilt rotten when it comes to seeing their team on FTA... and comparing this to the Brisbane Bullets situation in the NBL ??

Come on now....

I'd much rather the Broncos play none of their games on FTA. I'm so over the Channel 9 coverage. The best parts of their Rugby League coverage are now gone, in Andrew Voss and The Roast (hosted by Andrew Voss). I even preferred the Channel 10 Rugby League programs, hopefully they come back next year when the TV rights deal is up for grabs.

What pissed me off the most is when Warren was mentioning that the all mighty Gingell was going to put both Friday night games on FTA next year, one on 9 and the other on GEM, like we should all be so amazed that this is going to happen. Why wait until next year!?

What's your download speed?

I'm also on NRL streaming. I get 20+ Mb/sec down and 1Mb/sec up and it stalls occasionally usually at critical moments but overall it's pretty good with generally good quality

Using HFC so it's variable but higher than 10 mbit. I find the first game on Saturday works well, the second starts to stutter then the third really bogs down and spends more time buffering than playing. But watching a replayed game instead of the live one works without hassle.

Thanks for the reply

Yes, 10Mb should be more than enough to stream well but I'm interested in the variability you mention. My fixed wireless broadband speed is steady. I'll compare my quality next Saturday. It will be interesting. I find it so annoying when the video freezes but the audio continues, or worse when it just stops and I have to quit the App and re-start.

iirc, the Bullets went bust thanks to Eddie Groves (the ABC Learning Centre guy) going bankrupt or whatever it was

Whinging about 6 games in 3 months, consider yourself lucky some fans are lucky to see their teams on FTA 6 times in 3 years.

Out of interest ...

Someone once blogged that the people have no right to be entertained for free.

Another replied:

"No right to entertainment? The Romans understood differently. Bored poor people are dangerous, while bread and circuses can be had cheaply.
Think of it as “revolution insurance”. The wealthy can pay for it, and they won’t have to die in another French Revolution. Simple, really... "

EDIT: Inappropriate Post

My NRL stream of our game was appalling - the last 10 minutes was a mess of freezes at critical moments. I was so pissed off.

I wish we had less FTA games

Living in Adelaide useless Ch9 don't ply them until 4 in the morning, despite having 3 channels to choose from

The only time I get to watch my team live is when they are on Fox
