Not wanting to be disagreeable but.....you must have missed the part where I thought it was also a good concept for fringe rep players to mix with elite players and elite coaching staff. So no, I don't agree that there's nothing in it for non indigenous players.

Exactly. You can't go around wear an all stars jersey because you'd be labelled racist. It should be played after grand final week or something.

Personally I would scrap it and have a nines comp or something like that. More fun to watch and you can support your team. Plus you could have an indigenous team, qCup all stars team etc

The vibe I get is the dream is to make this clash as big as State of Origin. I think it would be self-destructive for reconciliation for it to be played in the same spirit of hatred and passion and tribalism as SOO... but how else do you get the players and fans to buy in?

I think the concept is great, the timing of the fixture is perfect. If it was after footy season when everyone was spent and footied-out you'd get half the crowd. Where it is now is great - everyone is starving for any kind of footy.

Now I am not a fan of the All Stars clash but what shits me is Billy Slater ruled himself out of the game but is now playing a trial match tonight for the Storm. Just typical of that club and anything involved with the Storm IMO. Pretty poor effort from them.

Except Slater doesn't have to play 80 mins because there is a 7 man bench. You can make excuse all you like. If he is fit enough for a trial in Geelong he is fit enough for the All Stars match. Piss weak from Slater and the Storm. We shouldn't expect anything less from them.
