Anti-Storm thread

Just a bit of a light note but I've always thought the Storm's 4 GF in a row is deceiving.

First of all - I take nothing away from them, they are relentless and professional but I hate the way they play RL and unfortunately IMO they are the perfect example of the best way to play in the modern game with the player depth the way it is and the competition the way it is.
They say winning is never boring but gee whiz...

Anyway I say this is jest but IMO:

07: They were given a FREEBIE to the prelim... Our team had no Locky, Berro, Hodgo, Tate + more
08: SHARKIES in the prelim... I mean come on... no disrespect but that is a free entry into the GF IMO. That is why 08 hurt so much... because we would have had the SHARKIES in the prelim!
09: Free ride to the prelim again and the Broncs with Locky at 7 and TC at 6?! (who unfortunately lost their 7 in the game before?) ... practically another free GF.

No doubt once they got there they were just too good (in 07 and 09) but they had some easy and lucky rides in getting there...

Anyway - hate the Storm and I consider myself a nice guy but Hoffman in 06 and Bellamy's face will always be a great highlight in my RL memory bank!!! Good times... whose with me?! :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

Storm are a bunch of up 'emselves motherf***ing cocksucking f***wits (a bit harsh I know, but they are). I'm with you Lockyer47 about that 06 GF seeing Hoffman and Bellamy.

Even Hitler would be a nicer bloke than Bellamy imo. As you can see I hate storm with a passion and proud of it.

Storm are awesome! Great example of what can be done when you have a great coach who innovates and creates tactics to give his team the edge. Like Brisbane they have stayed competitive but not with the aid of massive local juniors but through brilliant player scouting, retention and development so the new guys look like seasoned first graders. To nit-pick there run ins is silly IMO because they were good enough to be in a position to be in those games who they meet on the other side is irrelevant and something they can't control. I actually love watching them play because they are so good at what they do, they control the ball beautifully, kick accurately, chase well and execute ruthlessly when they do move the ball wide.

Best thing is we all know Bellamy is no where near Bennett in terms of Coaching.

Bennett would make sure you went all the way if you made the GF

Bellamy can not do that for everyone GF he wins he also gets a "lost 1" next to his name. I love that

I respect their success and abilities, but I hate the fuckers. Cam Smith is a whinging little shit, Greg Inglis beats women, Billy Slater is an arrogant grub and Ryan Hoffman is Ryan Hoffman. They used to have Matt King too.

And I really hate the people who expect all Queenslanders to love them because they boast a few star Queensland players in their squad. **** them and their big headed turd of a coach Bellamy. Slowing down the play the ball, using wrestling tactics. I hate the storm.

Bellamy is far superior currently as a coach.

The amount of players Bellamy has had to bring through and still get to 4 straight grand finals shows how amazing he is, and unlike Bennett he hasn't had a massive base of locals to replace his team with who play in a very high standard State Competition in the Q Cup. He has lost two grand finals sure but he faced a hot Manly side without Cam Smith who is was his key player at that stage (he didn't have Hinchcliffe like he does now) and his side had an off day in losing to us when many neutrals have said the rub of the green went completely our way in a tight contest. It is also interesting to remember Bellamy's side peaked and dominated the finals last year Bennett's minor premiers folded meekly in straight sets.

i hate the storm. they are the best team in the league. they are also a bunch of dirty *****. I used to like them until slater became a dirty ****, so did smith, king, hoffman, quinn and blair are all fuckwits as well.

I am not sure he is "far superior" or "easily the better coach" - he does have a core of superstars to work with which WB does not and I would think both teams have their fair share of workmanlike and young players in their roster which makes their current situations fairly similar, so we only have 1 year of results to base our decisions on. Dragons with WB as a new coach were probably the most consistent team in the home and away season but they did fall away in the finals. Bellamy, once they made the finals, could call on Inglis, Cronk, Slater, Smith etc to bring a bit extra to the team that the Dragons didn't have. This is a new team for WB remember - bit early to judge Bellamy as far superior I think.

WB coached before last year. Outside of 2006 WB's recent performances as a coach have been worse than they were earlier in his career.

Agreed mate, his results in the last few years at the Broncos weren't fantastic but you did say currently and I took that to be this 2009/2010

Oh well take it either way and I think Bellamy comes out on top. I wouldn't say WB is much worse of a coach than before but he hasn't had nearly the arsenal he had early on (1990-2000) which you could say is partyl his/the clubs fault and partly the way it goes in a salary capped competition. He did amazingly well to get pretty average Broncos teams to the finals through the mid 2000's especially when we were still losing a lot of guys to Origin.
