I probably agree it’s a bit soon but it’s a bit stupid when his shield average is 40Street can't come in when you have never averaged out of the 30's and your best year is 489 runs.

And if Green were to score a ton at 5, does he just keep that spot because that's where he's scored his runs? I'd worry what that says to Head too, "hey mate, we know you just nailed down the 5 position, but we're moving you now to give someone else a shot in your position".I get what you mean but the idea is giving him a more comfortable position to bat to achieve what he want a to achieve. What he wants is a big mother fucken innings. Daddy hundreds. Travis isn’t in that basket he is quick runs and quick hundreds and that’s where his success is coming at the moment. Cameron usually comes in and starts his innings alongside Carey. No offence to Carey but that’s not very promising that you have the opportunity to make a mark other than a 50 and that’s if Carey and Starc hang around. I know he isn’t even making 50’s but that’s not what Green has set his sights on if that makes sense. Yes there is slight technical issues but I think it’s mostly a mindset issue with batting 6. It just doesn’t suit him. If he can fix his defence and have good awareness on his off stump.
His Shield average is 37.62.I probably agree it’s a bit soon but it’s a bit stupid when his shield average is 40
Well ok if Green gets dropped for Khawaja, Heads batting at 6 anyway. That’s not the issue at play here. Why throw Carey in a higher pressured and more compromised position just for the comfort of another player. That’s your logic. And if Green were to score a ton at 5, does he just keep that spot because that's where he's scored his runs? If Green is good enough with the bat, he will prove it. There is no lack of opportunity at 6. Traditionally, that 6 role has always been where we blood the inexperienced kid, Langer comes to mind as does Clarke. These guys didn't suddenly change their batting style when called up to test cricket because of where in the order they were picked.
I don't think you compromise other players positions and your batting line up just so the kid can get the right mindset. My suggestion was to move him down to 7 because right now Carey looks more comfortable with the bat, hell you could even bat him below Starc.
Yeah apologies I think you might be right. The two sites I went to I think added the Aus A’ ton to his First Class average. But still he scored a ton in Aus A and is perfect for test cricket. Still reckon he is a better option than Harris. He is a year or two off still though. His Shield average is 37.62.
It's not really about comforting Green, it's literally moving him down the order because he hasn't looked good enough to bat at 6. Or we keep him at 6 which I have no issue with either, we just have to accept he may continue to struggle and pressure will build as he's in a position that is expected to score runs.Well ok if Green gets dropped for Khawaja, Heads batting at 6 anyway. I get you can disagree but that’s not really an appropriate argument cause batting position hasn’t got everything to do with your ability apart from maybe 3 and 4 otherwise it’s got to do with your approach, comfort and style. Cameron’s style is not 6 and whilst we have a 4 man bowling attack and Carey isn’t batting any better than him we shouldn’t be dropping him lower than that and definitely not below Starc or we really may as well have played 2 spinners.
Cameron Green has batted 10 or 11 times in his career in test cricket changing his position is one thing but I just beg, BEG that we don’t drop him. Not the right move here.
Final note, if we are worried about what selections say to other players what would dropping Green who has so much more value than Harris say to every player in the team that 3 bad games with the bat isn’t acceptable (whilst performing in other areas) but if you play for the right state you can do **** all for 20+ innings till you start to feel the squeeze and have to play (cough cough Marcus Harris).
I do agree he hasn’t looked good enough. But if you follow shield and even last years Australia A and even parts of the Indian series suggests he is good enough. He is a great batsman that just hasn’t quite clicked in test cricket. Maybe he has felt to comfortable with his position. You never know maybe he can only excel in one area at a time. It's not really about comforting Green, it's literally moving him down the order because he hasn't looked good enough to bat at 6. The alternative would be dropping him, of which I'm not an advocate.
I fucken respect that innings from Stokes. He is the heartbeat and pride of that England team who gives everything, he deserves a bit more than the lack lustre efforts of his teammates. How nice is it to finally see some fight from England!
I agree entirely with you except not Ward. He is not bad but I’ve got Hunt and Street ahead of him and let’s be real the selectors have Harris ahead of all 3 of them.I'd be looking at this for the next 12 months with the shadow player in [] and this does not mean they are touring with the squad, just who would be the next in line.
1. Warner [Ward] I am aware it is most likely Hunt though and no argument there, I just like what I've seen with Ward
2. Khawaja [Pucovski]
3. Labushagne [Maddinson] I genuinely don't know who is next in line here, probably Head in all honesty
4. Smith [Philippe]
5. Head [McDermott]
6. Green [Marsh]
7. Carey [Inglis]
8. Cummins [Richardson]
9. Starc [Neser]
10. Lyon [Swepson]
11. Hazlewood [Boland]
Bairstow is a bit ginger! Haha
Niiiiiice Garry.
