Yeah that was a post duck post but regardless of other players results he pretty much needs to 2 100’s from now on out to carry a 19 year old.And he got a duck.

Look I would be inclined to agree with you in regards to this aspect if the cupboards looked a bit better but there simply isn't anyone really banging the door down that really deserves to be in the conversation. Harris and Bancroft already have had a series of failures so I can see why they might just be thinking lets throw the kid into the deep end and see how he goes.Konstas probably out of the race for me. Great prospect but I just think it’s unrealistic to expect a 19 year old to cope at this stage.
Doggett not even in the squad comes in for his mate Steketee and gets 6/15.
Nice inclusion.
Harris looks more composed between himself and Bancroft.
Bancroft didn’t look composed but I don’t rule him out from that. That to me looked off the thigh pad live. Thats a bad call.
I think the fact we have few opening prospects to me you don’t chuck the promising kid to the wolves. He is clearly not ready, it’s a confidence sport. You can put a young kid back years if they lose it. He is years away from when he should be hitting his straps. Get the pieces around him to be settled for when it’s his time to come in. Need to get Harris or Bancroft comfortable up top for a few years or you get McSweeney up top getting comfortable waiting to move down the order when smith and marsh **** off.Look I would be inclined to agree with you in regards to this aspect if the cupboards looked a bit better but there simply isn't anyone really banging the door down that really deserves to be in the conversation. No I agree but that’s a 3 game sample he has a couple year sample and in my opinion the best test sample to choose from. McSweeney is my pick but I don’t think you can rule him out from that call if he gets runs later on. I think for Sam he is probably out now in terms of he is just not ready in far to many facets to risk it.He is averaging 2 this year, not the best time to turn in stats like this
So you comfortable putting blokes in who have had multiple chances (at home be it too in our favorable conditions) and neither of them have scored a century despite playing 10-20 tests each. There comes a time where you simply need to admit they aren't good enough and look at alternative prospects. If they deem Konstas good enough then back him. He wouldn't be the first kid to ever be thrown into the deep end and who knows, he might fire and be away. Otherwise, he has a great taste for test cricket and can work on his game if he fails. He would be young enough to invest 2-3 more years in then give him another crack.I think the fact we have few opening prospects to me you don’t chuck the promising kid to the wolves. Sam Konstas is no more accomplished than Teague Wyllie was at a similar time. The kids had 2 scores of **** all in 3 since he has had more of a spotlight. He is not going to cope against Bumrah. I think McSweeney is far and away the clear option even not being an opener in terms of age, ability, form, potential and reliability. Bancroft and Harris have had good shield seasons since. Konstas is without a doubt not ready for Test cricket. For mine he was lucky to be in the conversation. He wasn’t even in the conversation for best batters at the most recent u19 World Cup for Australia. Dixon and Weigben won that by a landslide. So you comfortable putting blokes in who have had multiple chances (at home be it too in our favorable conditions) and neither of them have scored a century despite playing 10-20 tests each.
