CRICKET Australia v India Summer

This is awful from Sharma. How he hasn't got Bumrah back on is beyond me

Yes, good work from Sweeney and Labs. Still a bit shaky but surviving a session under lights is a good effort.

Did we really get to 1 for 85 ??

After seeing what Starc did at dusk following by his much swing India was getting, that was a quality opening performance by McSweeney. Hope he goes on with it tomorrow, would be huge for him and the future of the test side.

McSweeney was solid last night. Obviously got dropped but other than that was good. Worry a bit about his front pad looking vulnerable.

Marnus started to look better too.

Starc fantastic and Boland very good.

What happened to Micheal Vaughn yesterday he was noticeably quiet with his criticisms ?
A week ago it was all doom and gloom for the Aussies . Too arrogant , too old .

That was a fantastic evening of test cricket. That is the kind of gripping contest between bat and ball that makes it the greatest format.

The traditionalist will hound me but day/night tests is how you get kids back into test cricket. It’s fast becoming me favourite.

In this era getting parents to dedicate a half or full day to their children playing cricket is a tough sell .
Even harder when the kids get older to put the time required to develop skills .

While the pitches have become more bowler-friendly, as Smith mentioned, a slight tweak in the ball has also made things more difficult for the batters.

In recent years, Kookaburra, which produces the ball for Test matches played in the majority of the world, has slightly raised the seam of the ball, allowing it to move laterally for longer periods even as it ages. Where batters previously may have made hay against the older ball, batting is now consistently more difficult. That is before you even factor in reverse swing.

"The ball now creates more divots and lasts longer, making it harder for batters," Australian opener Usman Khawaja said.

Vaughan and most people’s criticisms of Australia related to what went on in Perth and were entirely valid ..

We’ve good start in Adelaide but we haven’t won the Test yet .. If some players hadn’t turned up to Perth just a fraction under prepared, we might not be 0-1 down in the series..

My point is, what happened yesterday doesn’t just erase the defeat and the nature of the performance in Perth and make everyone who criticised the performance in Perth as stupid or wrong

McSweeney does a Harris. Does all the hard work and then gets himself out. And now let's see if Aus can avoid the usual collapse of the last 24 months.
