CRICKET Australia v India Summer

They just don’t have the same class as they have on previous tours. To compound that Sharma and Gill out this game complicates things some more. Padikkal and Jurel are free wickets I feel. Rahul seems a bit bogged down but he is a good enough bat to punish you with a start. Rahul, Pant, Kohli and the fact they bat deepish with Sundar and Reddy is really there only chance. I just think there side is lacking quality here. They are gonna need some players to stand up and Aus not to be up to scratch to be in this I feel.

Edit: Jaiswal was a huge wicket in the context of the omissions in the side.

Which just makes it even stranger that they left out both Jadeja and Ashwin. Jurel looked ok in the A game though.

Kohli looks like he is the same as late career Ponting now. Just holding on too long but still probably pull out a big innings here and there.

Pant is their key wicket in my opinion. Always plays well in Aus and scores so quickly he can punish the opposition. Once he is set too, he usually goes on with it.

Starc’s opening spell was unreal. Just unplayable delivery after unplayable delivery.

The Indian batting unit are currently continuing on their nz form.

Jurel didn’t really contend with Neser so all he had to contend with was an attack of Rochicolli, Boland and McAndrew. That is not even remotely comparable to our Test attack. Sure he was the pick of the bats but he had it pretty easy down at 6 against that bowling attack. Very comparable to Padikkal in terms of roughly the sort of quality although he is in slightly better nick, have to respect them for sure but they aren’t gonna change a test match or series for mine and I see them more often than not falling cheaply.

Sundar is averaging 60, loved the Aussie conditions last time and has 22 at 23.86 in 6 test matches. Look I think no Jadeja and Ashwin is a weird one but I don’t think it is necessarily the worst call. Ashwin has been an issue previously so you would think you’d roll the dice there first test and change up if it didn’t work. Jadeja for mine is a really odd non-selection when they are lacking that much quality through injuries. Obviously the 4 quicks was an important aspect to them and are backing Sundar to best balance the bat with ball in terms of what they need. It’s bold for a first test.

Sharma, Gill, Shami, Jadeja, Ashwin not there is a blessing for the Aussies. Very easy to say when they are 3-40 let’s judge at the end of the game I guess.

That is a horrible decision. Only have to look at the 1 inch gab between the bat and ball. Smacked the back of his pad. Muppet up in the box was using and aarhhing and still overturned it. Easiest job in the world and they still get it wrong.

Only have themselves to blame hotspot wasn’t there to prove it. Both teams have to agree and India never do. I think in a situation like that I have very little sympathy. Just India being a bunch of difficult ***** like always and it’s bitten them on the ass. You can’t guarantee either way what happened so I’d get off your high horse a little bit. India is insufferable when it comes to shit like that so I don’t have to much sympathy for them when the technology isn’t there to help them.

There wasn't a clear gap, it could have been an edge and to be honest, the timing of the hot spot really does make it difficult to see what else it could have been. I don't know that the third umpire could really make any other decision without hot spot.

That as well. For mine there seemed to be a very reasonable deviation after passing the bat and the spin of the ball changed entirely.

Other than being at the ground, nothing better than the buzz of the crowd slowly building throughout the second two sessions as more people stream in and get more plastered.

I’m enjoying being at home and smacking a few beers but that first time I jump in the car and turn the radio over to 630 on AM and hear the commentary is just summer personified.

In conclusion, I love the fact I love cricket and have had a few sherbets already.

Ok nope, he's been given. I was going to say, it seemed a big edge that time, great ball by Marsh.

I'm still shaking my head they omitted Jadeja, just nuts. This is like Billy Slater leaving out Fifita for some reason.

I was critical that we brought Mitch on after lunch but it has proven to be a good decision.
