CRICKET Australia v India Summer

India played amazing with both their bowling and batting combined to terrorise Australia. Australia needs to make some changes and definitely need to fix their opening batting definitely.

At what point does the coaching etc get scrutinised?

Probably not yet. Somehow, this coach provided a master class in the world cup final. He is seeming a bit like Kevvie though to be honest - good bloke who struck lighting in a bottle for a season and is now being found out.

Hmmm...what about Bartlett? He's just hit 50 - has a decent batting record and we know what he can do with the ball.

Nearly as glaring as our problems in this Test have been Australian commentators and ex players sucking on the teet of Indian cricket over the last four days..

Shameless ‘simping’ for a seat on that IPL gravy train
Yep so painful to listen to... It's because their coverage, including commentary I believe? goes over to India as well.

They're simping hard because India pay the bills for international cricket at the moment.

Surely we give Neser a go if we want someone who can hold a bat at 8

For sure but he’s injured.

Also Cummins has said no changes likely for Adelaide unless someone is injured and they might get there a day early for a bit of prep, they need some rest and recuperation time.

And they wonder why a lot of fans bag them out for being soft.

Jayden Goodwin is probably one we need to consider for a middle order role if we're dropping Marnus (Very unlikely until this series, I'd imagine, but still good to plan ahead).

Last 15 innings in Sheffield Shield he's averaging 43.6, including a combined 208 runs in the ongoing game against South Australia.

Highest scores of 139, 115, 94, 85, 69, 46 & 43 in those 15 innings.

Good stock as well, son of Murray Goodwin.

He also just got another 60. 22 years old so a potential player to build around as well.

Blokes a chucker. Changed the rules for Murali now Bumrah is OK.
Cricket will end up with the best spinner ever and potentially the best fast bowler ever being chuckers.

We've lost our way at the moment. The tail is wagging the dog in Australian Cricket. Players have too much power and they're more focused on their IPL riches than winning games for our country. Grass roots level is a shambles and has been for some time.

Cricket public tend to overreact a bit- that loss was horrible, but they've lost two of their last 14 series- India in 20/21 and India in 22/23 back to the 2019 Ashes.

I think you're right, they put this pressure on themselves with the new gentle regime and getting rid of Langer because he was too hard and old school.

Fine if that's your go, go see Coldplay instead of playing for Australia but you better win, and they haven't done that.

India turned around 150 and learnt, Australia sometimes seems very rigid and not able to adapt to games.

Australia seemed very passive in Perth; you'd think it was a warmup game before the Test.

Thing is this is it, no one else is worthy of playing a Test, so this 11 has to get out of 1-0 down.

India's Australia turn around.

Won last two series here and 1-0 up now.
Won 3/4 last Tests here.
India batting average 31.31 Aus 25.
India bowling average 26.01 Aus 33.
India eight 100's and Aus two across nine Tests.

We expect a lot of this team because they're so arrogant. We all know best so when they fail we just whack them relentlessly. I don't know if they got the balance they needed between Langer and McDonald. The gentle approach is ok if you can still hole people accountable. Our top order hasn't been accountable for years. Warner got a fairwell summer ffs and they all hate him. They moved Smith to open when it was so obvious he needed to be dropped. Too scared to upset the apple cart instead of making a strong decision for the future of the team.

Remember Cummins, Warner, Smith, Marsh didn't really deserve to get selected originally but blossomed as time went by. We are going to need to pick on talent for the next few years.

I do not agree. I think there are some outside the team who at least deserve a chance:
- Webster the stand out
- O'Neill
- Handscomb
- Renshaw (not recently)
- Inglis
- Abbott
- Paris
- Chris Green
- Rocchiocholi
- Hardie even to an extent

And then you have the younger guys who could learn on the job (Konstas, Davies, Connolly although injured), Goodwin

India literally had blokes in their first test team who have played 10 first class games.

That list is mostly garbage mate and very few top order batsmen in the group.

I'd be more inclined to pick a young bloke with 10 first class matches then head back down the Handscomb path tbh.

Kosta, Wylie look pretty good from the young brigage. Inglis a keeper but could work at 5. Webster fights it out with Hardie for backup allrounder duties.

Renshaw just can't score runs regularly.

The people who were saying the Australian cricket team is too unlikeable because of their antics on the field, how likeable are they now?

Getting absolutely creamed in the first of a 5 game series.
