CRICKET Australia v India Summer

I reckon McSweeney has a score in him this series, I hope they stick with him.
I think he literally just needs to find his way through Bumrah's first spell and he could cash in.

Easier said than done though.

I'm glad he's not throwing his wicket away though... he's getting out to some seriously good balls so far and isn't really being given any loose ones to put away.

If Australia can’t make the WTC final after this series or are locked in, I’d love to see them go a bit experimental for SL. I know they won’t but just for interest sake, I’d love to see them roll with:

1. Konstas
2. Labushagne
3. McSweeney
4. Green
5. Head
6. Connolly
7. Inglis
8. Cummins (c)
9. Starc
10. Green
11. Lyon

I would really like to see Inglis in the team... not necessarily for Carey, because he might be good enough to make it as a batter at that 6 position on his own and Carey has been in reasonable form.

When Green comes back that number 6 position becomes very interesting for the batting order and not having to shoehorn an all rounder into it.

On Carey it's always hard for a guy coming in at 7 to be making runs, but I never really feel all that confident when he comes in to bat... Gilly spoiled us, but even after him we had Haddin whose technique looked like a legit batter.

I've not really focussed enough on Inglis to get a good gauge on his technique, but he has played important controlled innings in short form and is a vital wicket whenever the scorchers play.

Big Bash doesn't really mean anything, but to me you want a guy that makes that shit look like easy mode before they should even be considered for international duty... and in recent years Inglis has looked composed and damaging at that level.

Why are people so keen on dropping a bloke who just scored 100 and averages 55+?

All about a new plaything so they can say "I said years ago he'd be great and should've been in the side".

Same players get mentioned ad nauseam

If you are referring to my side, as I said, it will never happen, I’m just throwing out a hypothetical. At some point Australia needs to plan for the future, the side is old, really old and as Ashwin’s retirement showed yesterday, the end can come quickly for guys at that age. Khawaja is Ashwin’s age, Lyon one year younger, Smith about two years younger. Start is 35, Hazlewood 34, Carey 33. Marsh 33/34. Even Cummins is 32.

This would just give a series to the next blokes to get some experience. You’d bring Smith back in for the WTC final and the Ashes. The reality is, some of these blokes will play through to the Ashes but have been in terrible form for about 2 years. Whoever performed from my side at best keeps their spot moving forward, at worst at least makes competition for spots.

He has a major flaw in his technique .
Keeps getting squared up and opening the blade . Other teams will have bowlers who can bowl that same ball .
Konstas has the opposite problem balls coming in he doesn`t know where his stumps are . Though he does look a talent .
Both can be remedied but probably not next week .

Will Green be back for the Sri Lankan tour ?
When will he be able to bowl ?

But if talk Cummins might miss the Sri Lanka tour or at least some of it. I’d be so keen to see some youth go on this tour. England often blood players in the non major series which is something we have never really done.

Not sure why Ashwin retired ?
Seems like a dummy spit ? One of the all time greats and he pulls the pin half way through a series . Strange .

Apparently he was told he wouldn't be picked anymore overseas and the next home Indian series is a while away.

He’s in his late 30’s and had a fantastic career. Nothing left to prove.

I would assume so but if he can only bat, he is good enough to bat only.

At #4 ?
I`m not convinced he`s a top order bat . All rounder who adds with bat and ball yes . #4 batsman alone ? I have seen some magnificent batting from him and some that looked like he didn`t know how to get a run .
