CRICKET Australia v India Summer

I'd argue Boland was just as good as Bumrah, he was just as unplayable.
Scotty was not opening the bowling and knocking off the top order right from the start .
Yes he was excellent, but he had more support than Bumrah . Creating more pressure.
re Konstas I can see him playing #3 in the future . His ability to counter attack could be an asset at 1st drop .

He should be… he’s our best bowler and I’m tired of pretending he’s not

In Australia he is a weapon .
But , overseas Hazlewood has him covered . Scotty is very hittable on low slow pitches . Hazelwood was #3 in ICC rankings before this series.

There is no question of Hazlewood's quality, the questions are around his durability. He is breaking down pretty regularly these days.

Sample size is questionable for overseas....

Has to be in the team for all 5 tests in the Ashes... 40+ wickets at 12 (at home) is ridiculous and cannot be ignored.

Scotty was out injured himself recently .
He said in his post match interview he had to put in a lot of work in the gym to get back .

Patrick Cummins is a freak of nature who never gets injured .
He has played a lot of consecutive games .

Starc too to be honest. Cummins is a funny one because he missed 6 years basically due to injury and then became indestructible for the next 6.

Boland is fantastic don't get me wrong and earns every Test.

2024

Boland two tests due to foot/knee injury- 11 wickets at 18. (Third Test was in 2025)

Hazlewood 7/9 Tests- 35 wickets at 13- best average of any bowler in the world to take more than five wickets.

The Hazlewood is always injured and can replaced narrative isn't accurate.

Clark, Voges, Hussey, I love a Shield player that's put on the overalls and worked hard to get the Test scraps they get. If Webster only plays a few more Tests or becomes the 13th man for two years it's a great win for Shield and him.

I still don't think they got their prep right but it worked out in the end, I would still prefer to see guys getting ready for a series with Shield cricket, but if they played hard games maybe they're not still going at the end of Test five. They peaked as the series went on.

McDonald has proven now he's very good at preparing teams, thought he did an excellent job at the World Cup and now BGT. Selectors too, Webster was a great choice and having faith in Boland despite his lack of cricket his year.

Australia do need to work on their slips catching- It could have easily cost them more than it did, if some of these pitches hadn't been so bowler leaning it could have been a greater cost.

Dropped catches, Aus v Ind, 2024-25

7 Smith
2 ACarey, UKhawaja
1 Cummins, McSweeney, Lyon, Marnus

9 behind is way too many.

Should add too, first time since 1997 Ashes Australia has come back from 1-0 down to win a series and first time at home since 1968/69 against the West Indies.

I would say preparing this team for the opening game was extremely poor given quite a few players never had any warm up games and it showed.

Doesn't this up to 15? 7+2+2+1+1+1+1 = 15. And did Smith really drop 7 catches?? If so, wow. I thought Khawaja had dropped more than 2 but there you go.

Sure if it was a one game series, but at the end of the series Australia have won 3-1 and it could have been 4-1 and they just got better as the series went on. Part of planning is peaking at the right time and maintaining that peak. Australia did that well.

I was only talking about behind the wicket.

Eeer did Bumrah have a warm up game ?
Don`t remember Kohli playing any warm ups either . Jaiswal ?

They came out here after getting pantsed by the Kiwis .

This not prepared meme ? You reckon the skipper who is 30 + years of age didn`t know how to prepare for a game / series ?
Bit like people saying they needed fielding practice during the world cup .

Interesting stat from the last test . No players in the team in their 20s . That`s a truck load of experience .

Conditions favoured India during the Indian 2 innings in Perth. They took advantage .
Shit happens . Doesn`t mean the team was arrogant , too comfortable or under prepared . That was the opinion of a guy paid to stir shit .
Like I said yesterday where is Micheal Vaugh and his sage knowledge now ?
