Australia vs India - Test Series

Australia was $2.00 to win the series when I posted that last night, they're now $1.55. I guess the gamblers agree with me.

India without Kohli in Australia against our current squad won't be much of a challenge. Have you guys forgotten how good we are at home?

All those same guys said that two years ago- Best attack ever won't lose a game- couldn't get Pujara out and he got more runs than Kohli.

Walk over seems a little much.

Anomalies certainly do exist. Either way we're a much better side now than the one we trotted out in 2018/19 against India. Mitchell Marsh was vice captain of those Test sides, that should give you some idea of where we were at.

There was no Steve Smith or David Warner - and Marnus Labuschagne hadn't arrived on the scene yet. I'm surprised we even won a single game against India that year considering we were playing guys like Finch, Harris, Khawaja, S.Marsh, M.Marsh & Handscomb.

Mark my Ruffalo - We'll win this series and it shan't be close.

For India, it all depends on Bumrah. Australia doesn't have anyone who can bowl like he does, so he is a tricky proposition for all the batsmen.

Yes Marnus, Smith and Warner make Australia a LOT stronger, no argument there and Australia SHOULD win fairly comfortably but that is different to a walkover.

Australia Test squad: Tim Paine (c), Sean Abbott, Joe Burns, Pat Cummins, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Michael Neser, James Pattinson, Will Pucovski, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Swepson, Matthew Wade, David Warner

Perfect squad, exactly what I would have selected.

I think you just pick the safe XI for the first test, Burns & Wade deserve the first chance, if they fail, it's a very easy swap to Pucovski & Green.

1. Warner
2. Burns
3. Labuschagne
4. Smith
5. Head
6. Wade
7. Paine (c)
8. Cummins
9. Starc
10. Lyon
11. Hazlewood

I think that will be the 11 for the first 2 matches. Changes will be made after that if needed.

Goodness, they've totally nailed it and very happy Abbott is in there too, he has an excellent season so far.

When is Paine pissing off? And yes he is Paine-ful to watch

I would swap Swepton for Lyon and Wade for Paine and bring in Green

Langer hinted today that Burns & Wade will get first crack ahead of Pucovski & Green, as expected.

I don't think so. He's a big loss but that have a gun side even for Aussie conditions. Bumrah, Shami, Sharma are quality anywhere these days. Jadeja is a gun, Rahane, Shaw, Pant, Rahul, Pujara are all world class. Their B team would be stronger than many sides in the world.

I've excluded the 18/19 series (Smith was serving his ban) and draws. Pujara would need to be in the same form he was last time he was here for them to be a chance, especially with Kohli only playing one test.

I'll take Australia 3-0 with a draw somewhere.
