Australia will struggle to take the final 8 poles needed to win. I can only see a draw or South African win (unfortunately) from here, which would mean we lose the no.1 ranking for the first time in a decade or so.

+1.

I think Seth Effrika will go all out to get the runs. But they do have the cattle to stay in if they lose say three wickets for not so many runs first off.

If they don't win, it will be a draw. Their tail wagging has smashed the bejesus out of Australia all series and I've no doubts at all that they can bat for three-quarters of a day with three or four wickets in hand.

I only see us winning if we make about 3 early break-throughs tomorrow morning and being able to knock the tail off quickly like Siddle did yesterday (after Morkel got out).

Johnson and Hauritz are the keys for mine.

Siddle bowled well but I dont think he has the guile to win us the game, he will try his heart out though. Bollinger is bowling way to short to be of any real danger and McDonald is just too slow...restricting runs at this point means pretty much nothing...its wickets..which means McDonald is near useless.

I don't agree Jeza, I think MacDonald's style suits the wicket. He and Johnson are the key men. Hauritz has nothing, Bollinger is ok but luckless and Siddle is proving to be good at getting shit batsmen out. Aussie to win by tea.

Like Jeza said, it's wickets or nothing tomorrow.

That said, IMO, we don't deserve the win. I have no doubt at all, that if Smith hadn't cracked his finger we'd be dead in the water. We got lucky and IMHO, SA deserve this 3-0.

They have outshone us in every aspect of the game. I am very excited that there is finally another great team, which plays the game in a great spirit, gentlemanly, yet ferocious. IMO, we are #3 in the world at the moment, but we will bounce back to #2 and I look forward to a few seasons chasing SA, in what will be epic battles.

P.S. We are going to get absolutely destroyed in SA, which will be two straight tours lost. How long since that happened?

I'll bet you $50 South Africa don't win the series in South Africa.

I like the look of Bollinger, he should have had 2 or 3 LBWs the other day.

Siddle has shown some glimpes of promise too and could be very handy come Ashes time with swing and reverse swing.

+1. It's been absolutely awesome to watch Seth Effrika during this series. They play the game as a team - aggressive, entertaining and damn good structure and execution.

It's brought a lot of interest back to test cricket for me, and I'm sure many others are the same. IMO we're going to see a heap of great cricket between these two countries over the next 2-3 years.

I hate seeing the Aussies lose but it really is good for cricket to see more than one team being touted as the games number 1.. India and South Africa are building great sides that should be 1 and 2 by the end of the year although IMO the Aussies can still be number 1 if they select the right players and hold decent form..

Punter regularly cops crap for late declarations and on pure numbers I think 375 or so is a good target to set at the SCG - history says we really should shit this in (and I hope we do). But at 1/60 with our depleted attack and inability to take wickets at the time when they're really needed (i.e. 4th innings), i'm not overly confident about our chances today (thanks to the Perth debacle).

The Saffas have said publicly that a draw is their priority but I bet their eyes may be lighting up a bit about getting these runs. Only 3-4 wickets in the first session or so to get them really on the defensive or a REAL change in the pitch - which the numbers suggest hasn't played anywhere near as bad as has been made out - will see us in with a shot of victory.

Hope Dougie can get a bit of luck going his way today.

Re: being destroyed in RSA. I actually think we'll do alot better there than we have here in the current series, especially if Clark is fit and the selection panel is sacked.

Although the Saffas showed real class right at the crucial moments in this series which ultimately gave them victory, people need to be careful not to overstate any gap between the teams at the moment. I mean this series could've quite easily been 2-0 the other way had a few players who should've known better not dropped their bundle. Its been that type of series. RSA may well get up again, but I think it'll far, far from one way traffic. Looking forward to it.

They don't deserve anything if they drop catches like they have in this Test

Bloody rain. Looks on the radar like it might just swipe the ground at this rate and it is contracting northeast a touch, but the problem is that we're coming up to the final hour - meaning that any delay can't be made up for. And given the way the officials piss around with delays and restarts, things are starting to get a bit close for comfort. Thankfully there's nothing behind it.

You could watch 10 Tests and not see as much playing & missing as there has been in the last half hour

14 overs to go! will Smith walk out if they get down to less than 10?

lol what are they doing one more wicket... Bring Clarkey on plz!!
