Smith deserves to bat out the draw for this display...

Now Mitch is throwing pies wide outside off to a bloke who has no intention of putting bat to ball if he doesn't have to. Come on fellas.

Mitch looks to be gone needs a rest couldn't even make him play ffs. My pick is clarkey

Now Siddle is throwing them wide. Christ!

Just over 2 overs left, is it time to bring on Clarke as Beads suggested?

YES MITCH!!! Who cares if hes only got one arm, well bowled!

(and props to Smithy! You're an idiot, but well done!)

Johnson does it I love the kid!!! The New Year starts with a win!

Full credit to G. Smith he has lead his team with great conviction and they win the series 2-1... The Saffas were at there best for the first two games and the Aussies weren't that was the difference IMO.

Very lucky indeed to get away with that win! I really thought that the South Africans had done enough to hang on for the draw. Great piece of bowling from Mitch to finish it.

Made it very hard for ourselves though by not bowling at the stumps much in the last hour. I really dont know what Bollinger was trying to achieve bowling back of a length all the time....the one ball he bowled full nearly finished the game off (if it wasnt for Haydos's drop!).

Great game, great series. Fair result in the end a 2-1 loss

2-1 Was fair when you consider we porbably won 2 of the 5 days in the first 2 tests and 3 days of this one. Great series and we need to bowl smarter as much as better, you have to bowl at the stumps often against tailenders like Ntini. We will lose 3-0 over there if we don't play smarter, the bowling in the first innings is a great example of bowling smart by bowling tight and making them work harder for the runs. I don't think Bollinger is the answer and would love to see Hilfenhaus get his spot, Siddle definitely proved me wrong when he bowled a bit straighter and a bit quicker.

We need a fit Stuart Clark, that's the key IMO.

Johnson's role is generally to attack and take wickets, thus he does bowl more than his fair share of pies. So we'll always do it a bit tough against better opponents if he's made to lead an attack, especially made up of freshmen.

If we can get line a up of Clark, Johnson, Lee/Bollinger/Siddle/Hilfenhaus, Krejza then I think we'll be fine.

We've really missed that calming, nagging, line/length bowler this series. I really believe he would've made a big difference in this series at times when we lost the plot with the ball. May not have taken huge amounts of wickets himself, but no doubt he would've created more opportunities at the other end.

Saffas all out by or just after tea if he was rolling his arm over on that pitch today.

QUEENSLAND cricket legend Matthew Hayden has been dropped from both the Australia one-day and Twenty20 squads announced this morning.

Western Australian opener Shaun Marsh, son of former Test opener Geoff, has been called up in his place.

Also in both squads are big-hitting NSW batsman David Warner, brothers Michael and David Hussey, South Australian paceman Shaun Tait and Bushrangers captain Cameron White.

Victorian pace bowler Peter Siddle, one of the star performers in the third Test win over South Africa, has been included in the one-day squad but not the Twenty20 team.

Chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch said of the Hayden ommission: "(It) is not a reflection on his performances in the recent Test series but rather a strategic decision made by the selection panel as we plan for these signature events.

"His possible selection for the upcoming tour of South Africa will be discussed as with all players when we select a squad after the round of interstate matches at the beginning of February.

“David Warner has been selected in the Twenty20 squad after some eye-catching performances particularly this year.

''He adds a dynamic nature to the top of the order and we look forward to seeing his performances at the international level.

“All-rounder Ryan Harris has had a very good season for Queensland and has the ability to swing the ball at good pace.

''He is also very good in the field and handy with the bat and it will be interesting to see his progress in these two matches.

“Mitchell Johnson will not take part in the two Twenty20 matches or first two of the one-day internationals.

''It has been advised by team medical and fitness staff that due to his workload over the last few months he should continue to be monitored.

"For this reason he will not be available for selection in these matches."

Hayden had a great career and will most likely go to South Africa if he can score some runs for the bulls in the shield matches before the Squad for the South African tour is selected.

My order for the ODIs:

1. Brad Haddin
2. Shaun Marsh
3. Ricky Ponting
4. Michael Clarke
5. Michael Hussey
6. David Hussey
7. James Hopes
8. Nathan Bracken
9. Nathan Hauritz
10. Peter Siddle
11. Ben Hilfenhaus

12. Shaun Tait

Good to see Tait in the mix but i'm wary of giving him 10 overs at this point. See how he goes pace-wise in the T20s if he gets a game.

Shame there's no Johnson there until the 3rd game, but he deserves a spell. This is Hilfy's series right here, he has to put his hand up big time.

Batting line-up looks consistent, but our inexperienced attack will again be the key to our chances.

Marsh
Hopes
Ponting
Clarke
Haddin
Hussey
Hussey
Hauritz
Tait
Bracken
Hilfenhaus

12th man Siddle
