I'm very happy McGain's in there, but debuting a bloke fast approaching 40 sums up the current situation with Aussie spin bowling.

But yeah the selectors do seem determined to have a 'frontline spinner' regardless of their quality. I do reckon McGain is the right choice though.

Pretty good selections all round. McGain must play though, as valuable as Hauritz may be in defence he didnt really trouble the Saffas, except for when he batted and he isnt in the team for that!

Great to see Hughes get a go and North rewarded for consistency, pity he wont play though!

Correct me if I'm missing something, but why have the selectors essentially dumped Krezja in favour of Nathan "No-Hope" Hauritz, both on the upcoming South African tour and in this summer's last few tests. This doesn't make sense. Krezja is easily the best of the two. Hauritz is dead set shite.

Explain.

I'm convinced I've missed something. An injury perhaps?

Hauritz is tighter than Krezja. In both tests Krezja has played, he's gone for a motza of runs, given away a lot of easy boundaries.

Hauritz can keep an end tight, which applies pressure and allows a faster bowler at the other end to perhaps strike more readily.

That'd be the theory.

Krezja might bowl more dangerous wicket-taking balls, but for each of those, he'll give away 5-10 boundaries.

In all seriousness though, the selectors have been very keen to give the newly inducted guys a decent run this summer. They've stuck by a few such as Peter Shitall and christ knows who else. What did Krezja do to not be afforded the same luxury? A couple of tests.. and he's gone. I would have thought such a small number of tests is insufficient to ascertain if he'll improve or not. I'd feel completely ripped if i was Krezja. The selectors aren't behaving true to form when it comes to his selection I feel.

Maybe they don't like players with exceptionally obvious mainland European ancestry. Wouldn't surprise me. [icon_wink

I meant the injury was the reason he was initially dropped from the test team, shoulder I believe.

Barring a farking miracle, the Aussies are going to be 2-0 down. Once again certain people are choking when the game is in the balance.

Outside of Ponting, Clarke and Johnson we have no outstanding talents anymore. We had teams in the last decade or so in both forms of the game with 8-9 per side.

I can handle Australia losing well not really but if they were playing good cricket or at least smart cricket and losing it would be much easier to swallow.. Whatever happened to the yorker?? The Aussies never seem to bowl it anymore. Dave Hussey, Cameron White WTF are they play a real spinner ffs.. Dave Warner is far to Hit and Miss for International level maybe he could return to the international stage after a few me years of First class cricket. Also the Fielding from the Aussies has been garbage all summer what is Tim Nielsen doing?? It is like they have forgotten how to play cricket and are waiting for past players to come out of retirement to save them.

At least in the offseason of footy we would always WIN the cricket (in my adult memory). This is ridiculous.

David Hussey has got to go, followed by Warner (to resurrect his career once he graduates high school) and Cam White.

I'd like to see Alan Border walk into the dressing rooms and give them all a fair kick up the coit. Like the days of yore....
